Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to providing enhanced database editing and reporting capabilities. Embodiments include a computer system receiving a database query including a request to edit one or more data items in the database. The computer system determines which data items would be affected by the requested data item edit. Based on the determination, the computer system accesses those data items that would be affected by the requested data item edit. The computer system retrieves metadata for each data item that would be affected by the requested data item edit. The metadata includes information at least partly indicating how the edit is to be performed. The computer system also performs the edit to affect the data items according to at least a portion of the retrieved metadata, regardless of how the edit would otherwise have been performed based on existing knowledge about the affected data items.

  • Publication number: 20140339999
Abstract: A bipolar junction transistor (BJT) may be used to generate a supply voltage for operating a controller, such as a lighting controller for a LED-based light bulb. A base of the BJT may receive current generated from the supply voltage to control operation of the BJT. Although the base of the BJT would be at a lower voltage than the emitter, a base drive circuit may be coupled between the emitter and the base of the BJT to increase the voltage. As one example, the base drive circuit may be a charge pump. In another example, the BJT may function as its own charge pump. In yet another example, a positive and a negative base current of the BJT may be independently controlled to regulate an output supply voltage VDD from the BJT.

  • Patent number: 8892104
Abstract: A RAN may receive a call request to establish a call involving a WCD. The RAN may serve WCDs of a first type and WCDs of a second type. WCDs of the first type may communicate with the RAN using a first air-interface or a second air-interface, and WCDs of the second type may communicate using the second air-interface. If the WCD is of the first type, the RAN may select wireless coverage areas from a first candidate set of wireless coverage areas. If the WCD is of the second type, the RAN may select wireless coverage areas from a second candidate set of wireless coverage areas. The RAN may assign, to the WCD, traffic channels from each wireless coverage area selected for supporting the call. The selected wireless coverage areas may be defined by the RAN and may operate in accordance with the second air-interface.

  • Patent number: 8880564
Abstract: In one embodiment, a computer system generates a view of entities associated with varying data types for presentation on a generic viewer. The entities and data types have relationships as defined in a corresponding schema. The schema is stored as data in a repository with the data types. The computer system receives an edit request configured to change various selected entities, where each entity has an associated data type, queries the repository to determine various properties of the selected entities corresponding to the received edit request including the data type, and determines, based on the schema, that the edit is valid based on relationship information stored in the schema. The computer system also sends the validated edit information to the generic viewer for presentation. The generic viewer has no prior knowledge of how to handle the selected entities and corresponding data types.

  • Patent number: 8880087
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for maintaining codec consistency across a communication session. When a communication session is set up for an access terminal (AT) operating in a wireless communication system, a network device, such a base station, can determine a coding rate to assign the AT for its air interface in a manner that accounts for network capacity variations spatially and/or temporally across the session. If the requested communication session is determined to be with a landline device, then a higher coding rate may be used than might otherwise be selected. If the requested session is with another AT, then a coding rate that best accommodates the air interfaces of both ATs may be used. If the AT is predicted to handoff to multiple sectors during the session, then a coding rate that best accommodates the air interfaces of all the predicted handoff sectors may be used.

  • Patent number: 8873508
Abstract: Methods and devices for assigning a resource to a wireless communication device (WCD) based on soft handoff capabilities are presented. In particular, a radio access network (RAN) component, such as a base station controller (BSC) may receive call initiation requests from multiple WCDs. Some of these WCDs may be eligible for channel-assignment-into-soft-handoff (CASHO), wherein a WCD is assigned multiple traffic channels from multiple wireless coverage areas during call initiation procedures. However, the RAN component may take into account the effects of CASHO on WCDs with limited wireless coverage. Thus, if CASHO procedures could result in one or more WCDs not being assigned a traffic channel, the RAN component may refrain from performing CASHO, or at least refrain from performing CASHO to its full extent, in order to assign at least one traffic channel to other WCDs.

  • Patent number: 8866652
Abstract: An example apparatus, system, and method for sampling in an interleaved sampling circuit having multiple channels. In an embodiment, an input clock is used to synchronize the transitions of sampling clocks from a first to second voltage level, relative to one another. The sampling clocks are input to a sampling circuit. The input clock switches a common switch that pulls each sampling clock to the second voltage level through a common path on input clock transitions from a first to a second clock state. The transition from the first to a second voltage level of each sampling clock triggers a sample taken on one of the channels. The first voltage level may be boosted to drive switches on in the sampling circuit. Synchronizing transitions of the outputs through the common switch and common path reduces timing mismatch between the sampling clocks controlling the channels.
