  • Patent number: 8798622
Abstract: Embodiments may involve the adjustment of the way in which coverage areas are included in the active set of a wireless communication device (WCD), based on the codec that is currently associated with the WCD. An illustrative method involves a radio access network (RAN): (a) determining a codec that is associated with a WCD; (b) using the associated codec as a basis for determining a value for at least one active-set parameter for the WCD; and (c) sending a message to the WCD, wherein the message indicates the determined value for the at least one active-set parameter.

  • Publication number: 20140210098
Abstract: Techniques and structure are disclosed for enhancing fracture resistance of back-end interconnects and other such interconnect structures by increasing via density. Increased via density can be provided, for example, within the filler/dummified portion(s) of adjacent circuit layers within a die. In some cases, an electrically isolated (floating) filler line of an upper circuit layer may include a via which lands on a floating filler line of a lower circuit layer in a region corresponding to where the filler lines cross/intersect. In some such cases, the floating filler line of the upper circuit layer may be formed as a dual-damascene structure including such a via. In some embodiments, a via similarly may be provided between a floating filler line of the upper circuit layer and a sufficiently electrically isolated interconnect line of the lower circuit layer. The techniques/structure can be used to provide mechanical integrity for the die.

  • Publication number: 20140201131
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques pertaining to the creation of a social document through a collaboration. A server executing a social document management application may create a document comprised of content. The social document management application may also create an adhoc workflow process associated with the document in which the workflow process includes steps to create the content of the document. Collaborators may be assigned to work on the steps of the workflow process. In addition, tasks associated with the steps of the workflow process may be assigned to the collaborators and tracked. The tasks may be assigned by selecting content directly within the document and assigning a task pertaining to the selected content. The steps of the workflow process may then be approved.

  • Patent number: 8767619
Abstract: A radio access network (RAN) may transmit on a plurality of channels, each channel made up of a plurality of subcarriers. Each subcarrier defines a sequence of frames, each frame respectively defining a sequence of time slots. The RAN may transmit symbols in each time slot at at least a nominal power level on each of the subcarriers. The RAN may also determine a subcarrier that is likely to cause adjacent carrier interference between a first wireless device and a second wireless device. The RAN may also transmit null symbols in a first time slot of an initial frame on the determined subcarrier with a power level less than the nominal power level. Additionally the RAN may transmit subsequent symbols with the respective power level of each of the subsequent symbols is successively increased for each subsequent timeslot, for at least the duration of the initial frame.

  • Patent number: 8767567
Abstract: A wireless communication system uses a series of repeating overhead time cycles that each comprise a plurality of time slots. The system exchanges overhead information with wireless communication devices during individual time slots. The communication system wirelessly receives a registration request for wireless communication service from a wireless communication device. The communication system processes loading information for the overhead time cycles or a quality of service level of the wireless communication device to assign the wireless communication device to one of the overhead time cycles. The communication system wirelessly indicates the assigned overhead time cycle to the wireless communication device. The communication device monitors the overhead time slots during the assigned one of the overhead time cycles and does not monitor the overhead time slots during the not assigned overhead time cycles.

  • Publication number: 20140175049
Abstract: Roll-to-roll processes for manufacturing touch sensors using a sheet of patterned photoresist film are disclosed. The photoresist film can include a sheet of photoresist material, such as DFR, that has been patterned by removing portions of the photoresist film using a die or laser cutting technique. In some examples, the photoresist film can be patterned such that the patterned photoresist film can be laminated to a base film and used as an etching mask or a photoresist layer in a roll-to-roll manufacturing process. In this way, the patterned photoresist film can be used in place of conventional photoresist films in roll-to-roll processes, thereby obviating the need for subsequent exposure and development operations that would otherwise be performed when using conventional photoresist films. As a result, the chance that a defect is introduced into the touch sensors is reduced by reducing the number of operations performed in the roll-to-roll process.

  • Patent number: 8761021
Abstract: A network device may make a determination that a first backhaul connection, which serves a first base station, is congested and that a second backhaul connection, which serves a second base station, is not congested. This determination may be made based on a first periodic data cap imposed (on the first backhaul connection, a traffic load on the first backhaul connection, a second periodic data cap imposed on the second backhaul connection, and a traffic load on the second backhaul connection. In response to the determination, the network device may configure a value of a cellular communication parameter utilized by one or both of the base stations. The configuration may comprise periodic adjustments of the value of the cellular communication parameter. The periodic adjustments may cause one or more mobile devices to be cyclically handed-over between the first base station and the second base station.
