  • Publication number: 20150370723
Abstract: A network sensor that features a data store and a packet processing engine. Communicatively coupled to the data store, the packet processing engine is configured to (i) generate a retention priority for at least a first flow within a first storage region of a plurality of storage regions and (ii) identify, in response to an eviction request, the priority of each of the plurality of storage regions. The priority of the first storage region is partially based on the retention priority associated with the first flow while the priority of a second storage region is based on retention priorities associated with flows stored within the second storage region. The packet processing engine also is configured to identify, through use of the retention priorities of the stored flows within the first storage region, which flows are to be retained and which flows are to be evicted.

  • Publication number: 20150372910
Abstract: A network sensor that features a data store and a packet processing engine. In communication with the data store, the packet processing engine comprises (1) a cache management logic and (2) deduplication logic. The cache management logic is configured to analyze packets to determine whether (a) a packet under analysis include duplicated data and (b) content of the packet is targeted for storage in a same continuous logical storage area as the duplicated data. The deduplication logic, when activated by the cache management logic, is configured to generate a deduplication reference for insertion into the packet prior to storage.

  • Publication number: 20150367255
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for liquid/solid separation for use in applications such as dewatering fine particulate solids, and recovery of valuable metals from ore in a leaching process are provided. One application relates to methods of agitation leaching of metals such as gold from gold-bearing feedstock. A slurry is formed in a tank by agitation, and allowed to settle. A filter bed forms to drain the liquid from the tank, and a vertical screen pipe such as a well point addresses the formation of an impervious film on the upper surface of the filter bed.

  • Patent number: 9063132
Abstract: An assay method and device can perform at least one (e.g., at least two) assays on a single aliquot of a sample liquid. The device can mix a sample liquid with assay reagents including magnetically susceptible particles. The device is configured to create a sample liquid-air interface with the sample liquid. The magnetically susceptible particles can be located (via an applied magnetic field) at the liquid-air interface when a second liquid contacts the interface to form a liquid-liquid interface. The magnetic particles travel across the liquid:liquid interface to the second liquid. The magnetically susceptible particles are configured to transport an analyte across the interface into the second liquid. An assay for the analyte is performed in the second liquid. An assay for another analyte can also be performed in the sample liquid.

  • Patent number: 8903589
Abstract: Techniques that optimize performance of simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) processes for mobile devices, typically a mobile robot. In one embodiment, erroneous particles are introduced to the particle filtering process of localization. Monitoring the weights of the erroneous particles relative to the particles maintained for SLAM provides a verification that the robot is localized and detection that it is no longer localized. In another embodiment, cell-based grid mapping of a mobile robot's environment also monitors cells for changes in their probability of occupancy. Cells with a changing occupancy probability are marked as dynamic and updating of such cells to the map is suspended or modified until their individual occupancy probabilities have stabilized.
