  • Patent number: 9675285
Abstract: In general, this disclosure describes techniques for placing a capsule for sensing one or more parameters of a patient. In particular, the techniques provide for anchoring of the capsule to a tissue at a specific site and releasing the capsule from the device using a single actuator. As an example, a delivery device may anchor the capsule to the tissue site during a first motion of the actuator and release the capsule from the delivery device during a second motion of the actuator. This allows a user to place the capsule by interacting with only a single actuator, thus making delivery of the capsule easier and more reliable.

  • Publication number: 20170161485
Abstract: Some embodiments described herein include a method to validate supply chains for electronic devices using side-channel information in a signature analysis. The method includes sending, to a target device, a first signal associated with a set of codes to be executed by the target device, and then receiving first side-channel information associated with the target device in response to the target device executing the set of codes. The method also includes determining second side-channel information associated with a simulated device in response to the set of codes. The method further includes comparing a discriminatory feature of the first side-channel information with a discriminatory feature of the second side-channel information to determine a characteristic of the target device based on a pre-determined characteristic of the simulated device. Finally, the method includes sending, to a user interface, a second signal associated with the characteristic of the target device.

  • Publication number: 20170160320
Abstract: Some embodiments described herein include an apparatus having a memory and a processor operatively coupled to the memory. The processor is configured to receive, in response to an excitation signal and from the power signature detector, a power signature signal associated with a target electronic device disposed within a sealed package. The processor is configured to extract a characteristic of the power signature signal and compare the characteristic of the power signature signal with a characteristic of a reference power signature signal associated with at least one reference device to determine a counterfeit status of the target electronic device. The at least one reference device is a pre-determined trusted device or a pre-determined counterfeit device. The processor is configured to send, to a communication interface, a notification signal associated with the counterfeit status of the target electronic device.

  • Patent number: 9668809
Abstract: Systems, assemblies, and methods to treat pulmonary diseases are used to decrease nervous system input to distal regions of the bronchial tree within the lungs. Treatment systems damage nerve tissue to temporarily or permanently decrease nervous system input. The treatment systems are capable of heating nerve tissue, cooling the nerve tissue, delivering a flowable substance that cause trauma to the nerve tissue, puncturing the nerve tissue, tearing the nerve tissue, cutting the nerve tissue, applying pressure to the nerve tissue, applying ultrasound to the nerve tissue, applying ionizing radiation to the nerve tissue, disrupting cell membranes of nerve tissue with electrical energy, or delivering long acting nerve blocking chemicals to the nerve tissue.

  • Publication number: 20170150804
Abstract: An adjustable harness is implemented by interweaving a cord throughout a woven portion of the harness to form a loop portion, an intermediate portion and an end portion. A length of the loop portion is selected by adjusting a length of the end portion. Once an appropriate length of the loop portion is selected, a locking mechanism attached to the intermediate portion ensures that the length of the loop portion remains fixed. A breakaway buckle may be attached to the adjustable harness and a carabiner may be attached to the breakaway buckle. In operation, a loop portion of the adjustable harness may be cinched down onto an accessory, such as a water bottle, and locked into place. A carabiner may then be attached to a user and the breakaway buckle may be used by the user to conveniently remove the accessory for use and then returned for storage.

  • Patent number: 9665741
Abstract: A security device for a universal emergency power-off (UEPO) switch of a computer system enclosure involves a plate body having a first and second portion, the first portion has a length and width sufficient to allow it to be rigidly constrained, the second portion has: a hand grip near an end of the second portion including surface texturing sufficient to capture and retain epithelial cells from a person who grips the hand grip to gain access to the UEPO switch. The plate body also has a deformation region such that, when the first portion is rigidly constrained, application of a force, directed within a range from 0° to about 45° from a right angle to the surface, will cause plastic deformation of the plate body within the deformation region.

  • Patent number: 9664644
Abstract: A test sensor includes a body, a first conductive trace, a second conductive trace, and a third conductive trace. The body includes a first region that has a fluid-receiving area, a second region separate from the first region, and a first temperature sensing interface disposed at or adjacent to the fluid-receiving area. The fluid-receiving area receives a sample. The first trace is disposed on the body, and at least a portion of the first trace is disposed in the first region. The second and third traces are disposed on the body. The third trace extends from the first to the second regions. The third trace is connected to the first trace at the first temperature sensing interface. The third trace includes a different material than the first trace. A first thermocouple is formed at the first temperature sensing interface. The thermocouple provides temperature data to determine an analyte concentration.

  • Publication number: 20170146082
Abstract: A system and method are provided for mounting, removing and retaining brake pads in disc brakes, such as air-operated disc brakes utilized on commercial vehicles, in a manner which does not require the use of separate brake pad retaining devices while providing positive retention of the brake pad. A preferred embodiment includes a brake caliper mount having brake pad abutment surfaces having radially-oriented and lateral grooves which permit a brake pad with corresponding projections on is lateral sides to be inserted through an opening of the brake caliper into the radially-oriented grooves until the backing plate projections are aligned with the lateral groove, and advancing the brake actuator behind the brake pad to place the brake pad in an operating position in which the actuator prevents the brake pad from realigning with the radially-oriented grooves until the actuator is retracted to permit brake pad extraction.

  • Patent number: 9657988
Abstract: A system is provided for drying precipitation from protective eyewear of the type worn by a motorcyclist or other person operating a vehicle when the operator is exposed to the elements. A compressor delivers compressed air to an air tank which is, in turn, connected through a conduit to the eyewear. An activation switch is operated to open a solenoid valve, which allows air to be transmitted through the conduit from the air tank to the glasses. One or more discharge openings of the conduit are directed at the lens(es) of the eyewear such that when the activation switch is closed, compressed air is delivered through the discharge opening(s) and directed toward the lens(es) to dry the eyewear.
