  • Patent number: 9607182
Abstract: A security device for a universal emergency power-off (UEPO) switch of a computer system enclosure involves a plate body having a first and second portion, the first portion has a length and width sufficient to allow it to be rigidly constrained, the second portion has: a surface including multiple openings to allow for ventilation while substantially impeding access to the UEPO switch, a port through which system identification information can be viewed, and a hand grip near an end of the second portion including surface texturing sufficient to capture and retain epithelial cells from a person who grips the hand grip. The plate body also has a deformation region such that, when the first portion is rigidly constrained, application of a force, directed within a range from 0° to about 45° from a right angle to the surface, will cause plastic deformation of the plate body within the deformation region.

  • Publication number: 20170081921
Abstract: An earth-boring tool includes primary and secondary cutting elements mounted to a tool body. The secondary cutting elements define a secondary cutting profile. The secondary cutting profile is recessed relative to the primary cutting profile, which is defined by the primary cutting elements. In an unworn condition, the primary cutting elements engage and cut a formation material while the secondary cutting elements do not. Each secondary cutting element includes a flat surface oriented at an angle relative to a longitudinal axis thereof and extending between a front cutting face and a peripheral side surface thereof. The secondary cutting elements are oriented on the tool body such that a surface area of the flat surface thereof will engage the formation material at least substantially simultaneously when the primary cutting elements reach a worn condition. • Publication number: 20170065999
Abstract: A sprinkler includes a compartment that surrounds its riser portion in an offset or asymmetrical configuration. More specifically, the distance of the compartments walls from those of the riser vary (i.e., increase or decrease) at different locations surrounding the riser. Put another way, the riser is closer to one side of the compartment than other sides of the compartment. This non-concentric configuration allows larger components to fit inside the compartment than would otherwise fit if the riser was symmetrically surrounded by the compartment.

  • Publication number: 20170065209
Abstract: A laparoscopic device and method of use for measuring the thickness of tissue is disclosed. The instrument includes an elongated tubular housing, an elongated shaft, a pair of jaws, an actuating mechanism and a tissue thickness indicator. The tissue thickness indicator includes an indicator scale on the housing and a marker located on a proximal portion of the shaft. The shaft is displaceable within the housing against the bias of a spring and is coupled to the jaws to open the jaws when the shaft is moved distally by the actuating mechanism, whereupon the tissue can be located between the open jaws. The actuator mechanism can then be released, whereupon the jaws close on the interposed tissue and move the shaft in the proximal direction so that marker is disposed adjacent to the indicator scale to thereby provide a readily visible indication of the thickness of the tissue.
