  • Publication number: 20170056742
Abstract: A sports training apparatus occludes peripheral vision of each eye across the nose region of a player by creating a visual divide that extends from and immediately adjacent to the nose along the central sagittal plane. In various embodiments, the visual divide is extendible, removable and replaceable, pivotal, and may incorporate scribes to vary shape or geometry. The visual divide may further be mounted from a pair of glasses without lenses, though other embodiments with and without lenses are contemplated. The eye divider is used to align or confirm alignment of a player properly to ensure that the player batter has both eyes facing in the proper direction.

  • Publication number: 20170053295
Abstract: Techniques are described for receiving data generated by multiple platforms of different types, and providing the data, aggregate data, and/or data analysis results to data consumer(s) through a marketplace associated with a super-platform. The data from various individual platforms may be received, ingested, stored, analyzed, aggregated, and/or otherwise processed by a super-platform. A data consumer may interact with a marketplace that is a component of, or in communication with, the super-platform. The data consumer may request one or more data set(s), and the marketplace may assemble and provide the data set(s) in response to the request. In some examples, the data consumer may request an insight or answer provided by an analysis job that analyzes the data collected from the individual platforms. The analysis job may be executed on the super-platform a device of the data consumer, and analysis results may be provided to the data consumer.

  • Publication number: 20170053015
Abstract: Techniques are described for aggregating data generated by multiple platforms of different types. A particular user (e.g., end-user) may interact with multiple individual (e.g., siloed) platforms of different types and/or that support different business purposes or industries. The individual platforms may generate data describing and/or resulting from these interactions. The data may be received, ingested, and processed by a super-platform. The super-platform may generate aggregate data by aggregating the data received from different individual platforms. Data aggregation may be performed on data that is generated by different individual platforms and that is associated with a particular user or multiple users. Aggregation may also be performed on data that is independent of any particular user, such as sensor data that describes an environment in proximity to the platform.

  • Publication number: 20170053131
Abstract: Techniques are described for receiving data generated by multiple platforms of different types, and managing the data in multiple stages of a data lifecycle associated with a super-platform. An end-user (e.g., data discloser) may interact with multiple individual (e.g., siloed) platforms of different types. The individual platforms may generate data describing, and/or resulting from, these interactions with end-user(s). The data from the various individual platforms may be received, ingested, stored, analyzed, aggregated, and/or otherwise processed by a super-platform during various stages of a data lifecycle. In some implementations, the end-user, the super-platform, and/or the individual platform(s) may provide one or more restrictions on how the data may be handled in each of the stages of the data lifecycle.

  • Publication number: 20170053032
Abstract: Techniques are described for receiving data generated by multiple platforms of different types, and determining recommendations for end-user(s) of the multiple platforms based on an analysis of the received data. An end-user may interact with multiple individual platforms of different types. The individual platforms may generate data describing, and/or resulting from, such interactions. The data may be received, ingested, stored, analyzed, and/or otherwise processed by a super-platform. The data may be aggregated and the data and/or aggregate data may be analyzed by a recommendation engine executing on the super-platform to determine one or more recommendations for a particular end-user based on an analysis of the data and/or aggregate data associated with that end-user. Such recommendation(s) may be provided to the end-user through an end-user interface and/or search engine provided by the super-platform, or through a third-party entity.

  • Publication number: 20170054611
Abstract: Techniques are described for determining and employing trust metrics for entities interacting with a super-platform. An end-user may interact with multiple individual platforms of different types. The individual platforms may generate data based on the interactions with end-user(s). The data from the various individual platforms may be received, ingested, stored, analyzed, aggregated, and/or otherwise processed by a super-platform. The super-platform may provide the data, aggregate data, and/or data analysis results to data consumer(s) through a marketplace associated with the super-platform. In some implementations, entities such as data providers, data manipulators, and/or data consumers may rate one another and, based on the rating(s), a trust metric may be determined that indicates a trust level of an entity.

  • Patent number: 9574627
Abstract: A system and method are provided for mounting, removing and retaining brake pads in disc brakes, such as air-operated disc brakes utilized on commercial vehicles, in a manner which does not require the use of separate brake pad retaining devices while providing positive retention of the brake pad. A preferred embodiment includes a brake caliper mount having brake pad abutment surfaces having radially-oriented and lateral grooves which permit a brake pad with corresponding projections on is lateral sides to be inserted through an opening of the brake caliper into the radially-oriented grooves until the backing plate projections are aligned with the lateral groove, and advancing the brake actuator behind the brake pad to place the brake pad in an operating position in which the actuator prevents the brake pad from realigning with the radially-oriented grooves until the actuator is retracted to permit brake pad extraction.

  • Publication number: 20170044810
Abstract: A variable resistance brake clutch facilitates a rotational coupling of electronic device components, and can include a rotatable shaft, a brake disposed proximate the rotatable shaft, and an actuator coupled to and configured to actuate the brake. The brake applies a braking force against a rotational motion of the shaft, and release of the brake results in low to no frictional resistance against the rotational motion. The braking force can be provided by default, and a capacitive touch sensor or other input component can allow a user to actuate the actuator manually to release the brake when desired. The release can be maintained as long as the sensor detects the touch event or other user input. A processor and solenoid can facilitate actuation by on a touch event, which sensor can be located at a back corner of a laptop upper component.

  • Patent number: 9568700
Abstract: A telecommunications module includes a main housing portion and a cover, the main housing portion defining a first sidewall, a front wall, a rear wall, a top wall, and a bottom wall, the cover defining a second sidewall when mounted on the main housing portion. An optical component located within the module receives an input signal from a signal input location of the housing and outputs an output signal toward a signal output location on the front wall. The telecommunications module is configured such that the signal input location can be selected to be either on the front wall or the rear wall of the main housing. The cover defines a protrusion extending from the second sidewall toward the main housing portion, the protrusion being selectively breakable to expose a recess on the front wall of the main housing portion that defines a signal input location.

  • Publication number: 20170034027
Abstract: A wireless receiver receives location pilots embedded in received symbols and uses the location pilots to detect the first path for every base station the network has designated for the receiver to use in time of arrival estimation. The receiver preferably applies matching pursuit strategies to offer a robust and reliable identification of a channel impulse response's first path. The receiver may also receive and use estimation pilots as a supplement to the location pilot information in determining time of arrival. The receiver can use metrics characteristic of the channel to improve the robustness and reliability of the identification of a CIR's first path. With the first path identified, the receiver measures the time of arrival for signals from that path and the receiver determines the observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) to respond to network requests for OTDOA and position determination measurements.
