  • Publication number: 20160341910
Abstract: A fiber optic ferrule includes a body extending from a first end to a second opposite end, with the body including an axial passage extending between the first and the second ends. The axial passage includes a first diameter portion having a diameter of at least 125 microns, a second diameter portion having a diameter of at least 250 microns and less than a diameter of a buffer, and a smooth and continuous transition between the first and the second diameter portions. The second diameter portion is positioned between the first diameter portion and the second end. The axial passage further defines a tapered shape at the second end extending inward from the second end toward the second diameter portion. In certain embodiments, another smooth and continuous transition can be provided between the taper shape and the second diameter portion. In certain embodiments, the axial passage is smooth and continuous between the first and the second ends of the body. A hub holds the ferrule.

  • Publication number: 20160342791
Abstract: Some embodiments described herein include a system that collects and learns reference side-channel normal activity, process it to reveal key features, compares subsequent collected data and processed data for anomalous behavior, and reports such behavior to a management center where this information is displayed and predefine actions can be executed when anomalous behavior is observed. In some instances, a physical side channel (e.g. and indirect measure of program execution such as power consumption or electromagnetic emissions and other physical signals) can be used to assess the execution status in a processor or digital circuit using an external monitor and detect, with extreme accuracy, when an unauthorized execution has managed to disrupt the normal operation of a target system (e.g., a computer system, etc.).

  • Patent number: 9497046
Abstract: An OFDM communication system performs time domain channel estimation responsive to received symbols before the symbols are processed by a fast Fourier transform. The communication system generates virtual pilots from actual pilots to improve the stability and quality of channel estimation. The system generates a reference signal from the actual and virtual pilots and correlates the resulting reference signal with a signal responsive to the received symbol to generate an initial channel impulse response (CIR) and to determine statistics about the channel. In some circumstances, the resulting reference signal is correlated with a modified symbol in which the actual and virtual pilot locations are emphasized and the data locations are deemphasized. Time domain channel estimation iteratively improves on the initial CIR. The system determines channel estimates for data only symbols through averaging such as interpolation.

  • Publication number: 20160324306
Abstract: A makeup brush has a generally cylindrical body having a first end adapted to be rotatably couple to a motorized makeup brush support, a second end defining a recess therein that is adapted to receive a plurality of bristles, and a central axis that extends between the first end and the second end. A plurality of bristles each have a first free end and a second bounded end, where the second bounded end is configured to be received in the recess formed in the generally cylindrical body second end. In various embodiments, the free ends of a first group of the plurality of bristles are recessed with respect to the free ends of a second group of the plurality of bristles. Furthermore, the first group of the plurality of bristles is positioned radially closer to the central axis than the second group of the plurality of bristles.

  • Publication number: 20160323343
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for dynamic radio content. The system generates a media item to be inserted into a media stream. The media item can include multiple segments associated with a set of discrete components. Next, the system inserts the media item into the media stream. In response to a triggering event, the system then re-generates the media item by assembling the multiple segments using a new set of the discrete components. The system then inserts the re-generated media item into the media stream.

  • Publication number: 20160320086
Abstract: An auto changeover mechanism for a thermostat. A heat and cool mode auto changeover with single or crossed setpoints may be an approach for doing a single setpoint auto changeover, an approach that can handle auto changeover with separate heat and cool setpoints that do not require the cool setpoint to always be higher than the heat setpoint, and also an approach that does not necessarily require a dead band between the setpoints. A hysteresis may be associated with switching to the other mode. The thermostat having the auto changeover mechanism may have a display of a mode that automatically changes between heat and cool.

  • Publication number: 20160311732
Abstract: Processes and apparatuses for isomerizing hydrocarbons are provided. In an embodiment, a process for isomerizing hydrocarbons includes providing a first hydrocarbon feed that includes hydrocarbons having from 5 to 7 carbon atoms. The first hydrocarbon feed is fractionated to produce a first separated stream that includes hydrocarbons having from 5 to 6 carbon atoms and a second separated stream that includes hydrocarbons having 7 carbon atoms. The first separated stream is contacted with a benzene saturation catalyst at benzene saturation conditions to produce an intermediate stream and subsequently isomerized in the presence of a first isomerization catalyst and hydrogen under first isomerization conditions to produce a first isomerized stream. The second separated stream is isomerized in the presence of a second isomerization catalyst and hydrogen under second isomerization conditions that are different from the first isomerization conditions to produce a second isomerized stream.

  • Patent number: 9475710
Abstract: A point of use irrigation water fertigation system utilizes plasma production of nitrogen-bearing species. Soluble nitrogen-bearing species are generated using an atmospheric air plasma treatment of an irrigation water supply. A plasma is generated by a tube having an air intake. A high frequency generator generates atmospheric plasma. The end of the tube is placed above the surface of the irrigation water supply and the plasma emanating from the tube generates nitrogen species in the water. The non-thermal plasma discharge efficiently produces highly reactive radicals and NOx species that have impact on water chemistry including inactivation of microorganisms with high efficacy and accelerated removal of persistent organic pollutants such as perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) from water samples. Plasma ignition can be initiated with a low flow of helium gas injection. Upon ignition, the gas is transitioned to a helium/room air mix, immediately followed by a transition to ambient room air only.
