  • Publication number: 20220254640
Abstract: A sacrificial sealing layer is formed on a high-K metal gate (HKMG) stack to suppress oxidants, e.g., oxygen and water, from impacting the metal gate stack, thus preserving the device EOT. The method integrated processes that include forming an interfacial layer on the substrate; forming a high-K metal oxide layer on the interfacial layer, the high-K metal oxide layer comprising a dipole region adjacent to the interfacial layer, the dipole region; depositing a capping layer on the high-K metal oxide layer; and forming a sacrificial sealing layer on the capping layer. The dipole region is formed by driving a dopant species, e.g., zinc (Zn), vanadium (V), tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo), ruthenium (Ru), titanium (Ti), tantalum (Ta), zirconium (Zr), aluminum (Al), niobium (Nb), or mixtures thereof, of a dipole film into the high-K metal oxide layer to form a dipole region.

  • Patent number: 11406505
Abstract: The glenoid implant described here addresses wear of the implant's portion which articulates with a humeral head, and also addresses a frequent need to reverse the normal glenoid and humeral articulating surfaces. The new glenoid implant provides a coupling portion between the implant's bone fixation portion, which joins the implant to the glenoid bone, and the implant's articulating portion which articulates on an opposing humeral head. The coupling portion is joined to the bone fixation portion firmly but is disengageable without requiring the bone fixation portion's replacement so that the articulating portion can be removed from the implant and replaced without changing either the coupling portion or the bone fixation portion.

  • Publication number: 20220245522
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for employing selective compression for addressing congestion control for Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads. Multiple interconnected compute nodes are used for performing an AI workload in a distributed environment, such as training an AI model. Periodically, such as following an epoch for processing batches of training data in parallel, the compute nodes exchange Tensor data (e.g., local model gradients) with one another, which may lead to network/fabric congestion. Compute nodes and/or switches in the distributed environment are configured to detect current or projected network/fabric congestion and to selectively apply variable rate compression to packets containing the Tensor data to alleviate/avoid the congestion. Tensor data may be selectively applied at source compute nodes by computing a network pause time and comparing that time to a compression compute time.

  • Publication number: 20220246414
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for performing charge detection mass spectrometry for measurement of the mass of a single ion of interest are disclosed. The ion of interest is caused to undergo harmonic oscillatory movement in the trapping field of an electrostatic trap, such that an image current detector generates a time-varying signal representative of the ion's oscillatory movement. This time-varying signal (transient) is processed (e.g., via a Fourier transform) to derive the ion's frequency and consequently determine the ion's mass-to-charge ratio (m/z). Ion charge is determined by construction of a Selective Temporal Overview of Resonant Ion (STORI) plot, which tracks the temporal evolution of signals attributable to the ion of interest, and where the slope of the STORI plot is related to the charge. The STORI plot may also be employed to identify ion decay events during transient acquisition and/or the presence of multiple ions of the same mass or non-resolvable ions.

  • Publication number: 20220237126
Abstract: The creation, maintenance, and accessing of page tables is done by a virtual machine monitor running on a computing system rather than the guest operating systems. This allows page table walks to be completed in fewer memory accesses when compared to the guest operating system's maintenance of the page tables. In addition, the virtual machine monitor may utilize additional resources to offload page table access and maintenance functions from the CPU to another device, such as a page table management device or page table management node. Offloading some or all page table access and maintenance functions to a specialized device or node enables the CPU to perform other tasks during page table walks and/or other page table maintenance functions.

  • Publication number: 20220229601
Abstract: An interconnected stack of one or more Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) die has a base logic die and one or more custom logic or processor die. The processor logic die snoops commands sent to and through the stack. In particular, the processor logic die may snoop mode setting commands (e.g., mode register set—MRS commands). At least one mode setting command that is ignored by the DRAM in the stack is used to communicate a command to the processor logic die. In response the processor logic die may prevent commands, addresses, and data from reaching the DRAM die(s). This enables the processor logic die to send commands/addresses and communicate data with the DRAM die(s). While being able to send commands/addresses and communicate data with the DRAM die(s), the processor logic die may execute software using the DRAM die(s) for program and/or data storage and retrieval.
