  • Publication number: 20140300027
Abstract: Various methods (1000, 1100) can be employed to apply a braided product to an irregular core. Application can occur while preserving the integrity of the braided structure. A system (200) can be designed in turn to apply a braided product to an irregular core (212). The system can include a mandrel (206) that prevents distortion of the braid during application. System (200) can additionally include a pinch clamp (210) and cam track assembly (214) that are designed based at least in part on the irregular core (212). Further, a mandrel (100) can be designed to prevent distortion of braiding of a braided structure by maintaining constant length in all directions.

  • Patent number: 8841924
Abstract: The electrical properties of particle solutions can be investigated on a single particle basis by using micro fluidic channels. The impedance can be measured across the channel using at least one pair of conductive electrodes, at least one electrode of a pair being a fingered electrode having a plurality of fingers. The pattern of fingered electrodes creates a longer and more complicated measurement signal shape which leads to a significant improvement of measurement sensitivity. An application for the proposed technology is to significantly improve the measurement sensitivity of impedance measurements on blood cells, leading to a better differentiation between different types of white blood cells. Better measurement sensitivity also enables the measurement of smaller particles and higher throughput.

  • Patent number: 8842524
Abstract: Methods and systems for automatically recovering from a failure event in one or more nodes of a redundant ring network are provided. An indication is received at a first ring of nodes that an associated second ring of nodes has failed. A probing token is circulated around the second ring of nodes while a probing timer is started. The injecting a probing token and starting a probing timer are repeated if the probing timer expires before the probing token circulates completely around the second ring of nodes. A recovery token is circulated around the second ring of nodes to enable each node of the second ring of nodes and to disable the probing timer if the probing token circulates completely around the second ring of nodes.

  • Publication number: 20140258270
Abstract: Techniques for context-based queryless presentation of recommendations are described. Without receiving an explicit query, an inferred query is determined based on a first set of context signals associated with a recommendation triggering event. Items matching the inferred query are selected based on a second set of one or more context signals associated with the recommendation triggering event. One or more results items identifying the one or more matching items are caused to display. A result items may be displayed in association with an explanation that identifies context values used to select an item for recommendation or one or more attributes of the item that are relevant to a user or the inferred query.

  • Publication number: 20140192076
Abstract: Hybrid image projection systems and methods can superimpose image components of an input image. An input image can be divided into smaller regions and at least one parameter of each region can be determined. The input image can be decomposed based on the parameter of each region into multiple, less correlated, orthogonal or quasi-orthogonal image components. Each projector can display respective image components so that the images projected may be optically superimposed on a screen. The superposition of orthogonal or quasi-orthogonal image components can result in superposition of images in an existing multi-projector image systems being more insensitive to inter-projector image misalignment. Superimposing orthogonal or quasi-orthogonal images can be used to avoid visible image degradation, and provide more robust image quality in a multiple projector system implementation.
