  • Publication number: 20140099887
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for utilizing close proximity wireless communication (CPWC) technology for a secure out-of-band (OOB) transfer of communication information between two or more devices at close range. The communication information may then be used to establish a secure communication channel over a greater distance than possible using CPWC technologies. In various embodiments, a host device may include a processing unit in communication with a communication module and a separate CPWC module. An edge device may include a processing unit in communication with a communication module and a CPWC tag. The CPWC tag may be configured to receive communication information from the CPWC module of the host device. The edge device may then use the communication information to facilitate secure communication via the communication module of the edge device and the communication module of the host device.

  • Publication number: 20140089243
Abstract: A portable item reporting device (200) is configured to be attached to and in substantial collocation with a portable item (100), or to be integrated into a portable item (100). The device (200) includes environmental sensors (210) to monitor item location, movement, ambient light, sounds, temperature, etc. The device (200) is configured to store usage expectation data (600) indicative of historical and/or expected item usage and environments when the item (100) is in normal use/storage associated with an authorized user (AU). The device (200) monitors current environmental conditions (104) surrounding and pertaining to the item. If the current environment (104) is inconsistent with expected conditions (600), the device (200) assesses that the item (100) is displaced (503.0), meaning either that the item (100) is in abnormal use or abnormal storage, or is under the control of an unauthorized user (UU) who is other than the authorized user (AU).

  • Publication number: 20140083428
Abstract: A patient interface device includes a patient sealing assembly having a cushion and a frame member having a faceplate portion and an extension portion extending from the faceplate portion. Te cushion is coupled to the faceplate portion. A forehead member engages the forehead of the patient, and a flexible elongated member is coupled to the extension portion. A drive assembly selectively causes the second end portion of the flexible elongated member to move relative to the extension portion in a first direction. Movement of the flexible elongated member relative to the extension portion in the first direction causes movement of the frame member relative to the forehead member in a second direction transverse to the first direction.

  • Publication number: 20140059620
Abstract: The video data buffering apparatus and associated methods provide audio and video data buffering in a video processing device. Specifically, the system relates to the use of a circular buffer and linked list FIFO employed in a video processing system, wherein video data packets from multiple video streams are stored in a common buffer to compensate for transport packet jitter. The apparatus and methods enable the system to store multiple QAM video stream packets in a common memory buffer. Linked list FIFOS are generated to identify the packets and their location within the common memory buffer. The linked list information is used to transfer the data between the common memory buffer and a modulator.

  • Patent number: 8589650
Abstract: In a digital system with a processor coupled to a paged memory system, the memory system may be dynamically configured using a memory compaction manager in order to allow portions of the memory to be placed in a low power mode. As applications are executed by the processor, program instructions are copied from a non-volatile memory coupled to the processor into pages of the paged memory system under control of an operating system. Pages in the paged memory system that are not being used by the processor are periodically identified. The paged memory system is compacted by copying pages that are being used by the processor from a second region of the paged memory into a first region of the paged memory. The second region may be placed in a low power mode when it contains no pages that are being used by the processor.
