  • Publication number: 20040013290
Abstract: The present invention provides techniques for combining various types of diagnostic images. In one embodiment of the present invention, a composite image is obtained by fusing MPR and MIP images. The MPR is obtained from a CT scan, and the MIP is obtained from a PET scan. The resulting superimposed images help a physician to see the diagnostic information in context. In other embodiments of the present invention, techniques for an MIP-MIP overlay, VR-MIP overlay, and VR-MPR overlay are provided.

  • Patent number: 6681008
Abstract: An automated toll-free telecommunications information service may be provided responsive to a user sending an E-Mail request via the Internet or by a caller dialing a toll-free telephone number and announcing a voice request. A service node interprets the request and collects matches to the request from a database. A match to a request may comprise the identity of an entity corresponding to the match, a toll-free number for the match and a brief information sketch describing the entity. The matches are announced and played for the caller. The caller may barge in with a predetermined voice announcement such as “please dial” when they wish to select an item of the list. In response, the service node initiates the launch of a call to the selected entity.

  • Patent number: 6665020
Abstract: A minimal level of interoperability for exchanging audio/video (A/V) content and associated control between common consumer electronic (CE) devices is defined. This interoperability is based on the IEEE 1394 serial bus for the physical and link layers and makes use of AV/C or CAL as the control language. This invention provides for reducing the number of remote controls that the user might need by allowing remote control commands to always be received by a controlling device (e.g., digital television) and then routed to the appropriate peripheral device (e.g. digital VCR) after translation into a universal format.

  • Publication number: 20030194366
Abstract: The invention relates to catalysts and catalytic methods for selective oxidation of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in a gas stream containing one or more oxidizable components other than H2S to generate sulfur dioxide (SO2), elemental sulfur (S) or both without substantial oxidation of the one or more oxidizable components other than H2S. The catalysts and methods herein are useful, for example, for the selective oxidation of H2S to SO2, sulfur or both in the presence of hydrocarbons, hydrocarbon oxygenate, sulfur-containing organic compounds, aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, hydrogen or carbon monoxide.

  • Patent number: 6626834
Abstract: A scanning device, typically ultrasonic, can make a volumetric scan of a conical scanning field. A transducer having a permanent magnet at its back end is gimbal mounted in a housing. Behind the permanent magnet is a hemispheric electromagnet coil assembly having at least two wound electromagnet coils. The coils are energized in turn with an alternating current signal, with the signal applied to any coil being out of phase with the signal applied to any other coil by 180°/n, where n is the number of coils in the hemispheric electromagnet coil assembly. Volumetric scanning is possible by periodically modulating the magnitude or frequency of the signals applied to the coils.

  • Publication number: 20030149900
Abstract: When a user successfully logs into an account, the user is provided with a first-class login token, which entitles the user to one or more unsuccessful login attempts without experiencing delays the user would otherwise experience. If attempts with a second-class login token or an expired first-class login token is impermissible, a subsequent login attempt is subject to delays the user would otherwise not experience. The delays minimize the effectiveness of dictionary attacks. Additionally, if the user attempts to login without a login token or an invalid login token, the login attempt is impermissible and the user is provided with a second-class login token for use in a delayed, subsequent login attempt.

  • Patent number: 6563915
Abstract: The invention provides a system that includes a method and apparatus for automatically barging-in on telephone calls. When a first party is talking to a second party, a third party may be automatically connected to the first party and the second party given an option to hold or leave a voice mail message. In addition, when a first party is connected to a stored information service provider, a third party may be automatically connected to the first party and a bookmark is set in the stored information. If the call between the first party and the third party does not exceed a predetermined time limit, the first party may resume the stored information service from the location of the bookmark.

  • Patent number: 6548928
Abstract: A stator comprises a stator frame, a stator core and a spring. The stator core includes at least one lamination having a dovetail slot formed therein. A key bar is connected to the stator frame and includes a dovetail for engaging the dovetail slot. The spring is coupled between a portion of the lamination and the dovetail to provide an electrical ground path between the stator core and the stator frame. The spring includes a leaf spring that has first and second ends which contact the dovetail and a central portion. The central portion is connected to a base portion which contacts the lamination. Alternatively, the spring includes a base portion that contacts the lamination and prongs which project from the base portion and contact the dovetail.

  • Publication number: 20030036739
Abstract: This invention relates to a folded absorbent article. The absorbent article includes a front portion and a back portion joined together by a crotch portion. An absorbent core is positioned in the crotch portion. The front portion is joined to the back portion by first and second side seams to form an absorbent article having a waist opening and a pair of leg openings. Elastic is positioned in the front and/or back portions to define an elastic waistband. Each of the front and back portions includes a first zone and a second zone and a demarcation line positioned therebetween. Each of the front and back portions further includes a first section, a second section and a third section. The first section is longitudinally folded over the second section such that the first side seam is positioned laterally outboard of a longitudinal centerline of the absorbent article to form a first longitudinal fold line.

  • Publication number: 20020186503
Abstract: A transducer for generating a write signal includes a write gap layer and bottom and top poles. The write gap layer is oriented normal to a media bearing surface. The bottom pole has a first magnetic material inner layer disposed adjacent the write gap layer for coupling the write signal to the media bearing surface. The top pole has a first magnetic material inner layer and a second magnetic material outer layer. The top pole is disposed adjacent the write gap layer on a side opposite the bottom pole at the media bearing surface with the top pole inner layer disposed between the gap layer and the top pole outer layer. The top pole has a constant width at the media bearing surface and couples the write signal to the media bearing surface. A coil passes between the bottom and top poles for inducing the write signal in the poles.
