  • Publication number: 20100095615
Abstract: A prefabricated wall panel has a top frame structure defining an upward-opening channel extending lengthwise along the upper edge of the panel. An elongate header member is normally disposed within this channel. The header member is vertically slidably supported on supports fixed to the top frame structure so that the header member, in a storage position, is retained in the space. When the panel has been swung upwardly so that the upper edge is aligned below a preinstalled ceiling track, then the header member is manually displaced upwardly until the header telescopes over the ceiling track. A fixed connection is then formed between the header and the ceiling track to provide lateral stability at the upper edge of the wall panel.

  • Patent number: 7696695
Abstract: A metal halide discharge lamp comprises a lamp body and a chamber formed within the body. A pair of electrodes extends into the chamber and have electrode tips spaced apart from one another. A discharge medium composition is sealed within the chamber that generates a plasma, which generates visible light. The composition comprises a rare gas, a first metal halide that produces a luminous flux and zinc iodide that generates a desired lamp operating voltage. The composition may also comprise zinc, sealed in the chamber, in elemental form that is not derived from the first metal halide or the zinc iodide. The zinc iodide halide serves as a substitute for mercury for purposes of generating desired lamp operating voltage; and, the excess pure zinc attracts or reacts with iodine atoms thereby making available electrons and the first metal halide for generation of a luminous flux.

  • Publication number: 20100053045
Abstract: An active matrix display device comprises an array of display pixels, each pixel comprising: a current-driven light emitting display element (2); a drive transistor (22) for driving a current through the display element; a storage capacitor (24) for storing a voltage to be used for addressing the drive transistor; and an addressing transistor (16) for coupling data from a data line (6) to the pixel during pixel addressing. The addressing transistor (16) comprises a phototransistor, and the data line (6) is used for external monitoring of the phototransistor. This device design uses a pixel-addressing transistor (16) as the optical feedback element. This addressing transistor is a fundamental requirement of an active matrix-addressing scheme, and its use as a feedback element can therefore avoid any addition pixel complexity to implement an optical feedback function.

  • Publication number: 20100045650
Abstract: An active matrix display device comprises an array of display pixels, each pixel comprising a current-driven light emitting display element (2), a drive transistor (22) for driving a current through the display element (2) and a storage capacitor (30) for storing a voltage to be used for addressing the drive transistor (22). A discharge transistor (36) is used for discharging the storage capacitor (30) thereby to switch off the drive transistor in dependence on the light output of the display element (2). Reading circuitry (70) is used for monitoring the charge on a discharge capacitor (40), the pixel data is corrected in response to the reading circuitry measurements. This can extend the lifetime of the display.

  • Patent number: 7665714
Abstract: A fail safe mechanism having a return member, valve stem extension, energy storage member, and locking assembly. The valve stem extension is driven by an electrical actuator and configured to drive the return member in a first direction and to be driven by the return member in a second direction. The energy storage member is configured to store energy when the electrical actuator causes the valve stem extension to drive the return member in the first direction and to release the energy stored therein when a disruption of power causes the return member to drive the valve stem extension in the second direction. The locking assembly is configured to hold the return member in a cocked position such that the valve stem extension rotates with the valve independently of the return member and free of influence from the energy storage member while the power is applied to the electrical actuator.

  • Publication number: 20090315877
Abstract: A thin film circuit comprises a plurality of thin film transistors, wherein the output response of the circuit is dependent on at least first (36) and second (34, 22) of the transistors. The first thin film transistor (36) is, in use, exposed to a source of illumination (2) and the second thin film transistor (16) is shielded from the source of illumination. The first thin film transistor (36) is operated in use as an analogue switch which provides an analogue output in response to a control input. The illumination of this transistor reduces the effect of dynamic threshold voltage variations, which can be a limitation to circuit performance.

  • Publication number: 20090316253
Abstract: An electronic device comprises an array of electro wetting cells, each cell comprising first and second liquids (14,18) which are immiscible in each other. An electrode arrangement (60a,60b) is used to control the position of the interface between the first and second liquids, and comprises a first electrode and a second electrode. Each cell comprises a first switching device (64a) for applying a cell drive voltage to the first electrode (60a), and a second switching device (64b) for simultaneously applying the same cell drive voltage to the second electrode (60b). The cell circuit can be produced without requiring any additional control lines to those required for a single electrode and associated switching device, but the use of two switching devices enables the ultimate signal applied to each electrode to be different as a result of different capacitive effects. This then enables control over the way the liquid interface moves in response to control voltages.

  • Patent number: 7632124
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly for a cable having a plurality of insulated conductors comprises a body having a respective recess for receiving a terminating pin each of the conductors. A respective spigot sealingly engages within each of the recesses and has a passage for receiving an associated one of the terminating pins. Furthermore a seal is associated with each of the spigots for sealing the spigot relative to the associated terminating pin. The provision of a separate spigot for each of the conductors and for sealing engagement within a respective recess in the body enables the spigots to be sealingly fitted to the conductors prior to each spigot being introduced into its recess and sealingly engaged therein. This provides improved insulation of the conductor and increased creepage distance between the mating electrical parts and the outer surface of the housing of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 7612653
Abstract: A network outlet fixture providing wall-mounted LAN jacks. The fixture may include an in-wall power supply and be configured for mounting within a conventional multi-gang wall box. The power supply may be directly connected to an adjacent wall outlet, which serves as a power source, in the same or an adjacent wall box. The fixture may include both network switching and fiber-to-copper media converter functionality. The fixture may be configured to disconnect the power source upon removal of a face plate of the fixture. Further, the fixture may be configured to allow mounting of the jack-supporting structure in any one of several different positions relative to a remainder of the outlet fixture. This allows for presentation of the LAN jacks in a certain preferred orientation while permitting the remainder of the outlet fixture to be mounted in several different orientations relative to a wall.
