  • Patent number: 11117488
Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method may include matching transportation requests to personal mobility vehicles. A dynamic transportation network may incorporate different types of vehicles, such as bicycles and/or scooters. Certain vehicles may have advantages over other vehicles in certain contexts but be disadvantageous in others. For example, a dynamic transportation matching system may match a user transporting a bulky package with a basket-equipped bike rather than a scooter without a basket. Moreover, the dynamic transportation matching system may account for a wide variety of other factors, including but not limited to route features, ambient conditions, and vehicle status when matching a transportation requestor to a specific vehicle. Moreover, some systems may account for vehicle wear-and-tear, battery power levels, operational status, etc. to avoid matching users vehicles that would be unable to fulfill a transportation request.

  • Patent number: 11116588
Abstract: A robotic surgical instrument comprising a shaft, an articulated section and a drive mechanism. The articulated section extends from the shaft and terminates at its distal end in a tip. The tip has an attachment for an end effector. The drive mechanism drives the articulated section via flexible driving elements thereby altering the angular orientation of the tip relative to the shaft. The drive mechanism is controlled so as to always fully compress the articulated section along at least one extent by which the articulated section connects the tip and the shaft whilst driving the articulated section from any one configuration to any other configuration. The drive mechanism constrains movement of the articulated section so as to permit the tip to move with two degrees of rotational freedom and no degrees of translational freedom relative to the shaft.

  • Publication number: 20210244278
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are presented for non-contact in-vivo measurement of one or more properties of a cornea or tear film with spatial resolution. In certain embodiments the cornea/tear film is probed at substantially normal incidence with a converging array of beamlets from a multi-wavelength optical source, and the reflected light analysed interferometrically to generate a time sequence of pachymetry maps. Thickness variations arising from differences between the external and intraocular pressure, e.g. from the ocular pulse or externally applied pressure changes, are measured and analysed to obtain information on a biomechanical response of the cornea. In preferred embodiments the time variation in tear film thickness is measured and subtracted to yield normalised pachymetry data for the biomechanical analysis. In certain embodiments the apparatus is configured to measure the dynamics and profile of the tear film, using either converging or substantially parallel arrays of beamlets.

  • Publication number: 20210229309
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to apparatuses and methods for adjusting and maintaining a position of cutting surfaces used to create lines of weakness in rolled products. During cutting operations, intermittent contact between cutting surfaces causes cutting components to become heated, which in turn, causes an overlap distance between cutting surfaces to vary from desired values. Conversely, when cutting operations are stopped, the components cool, which in turn, may cause the overlap distance to vary from desired values at steady state operating conditions. To help reduce or eliminate the changes to overlap distances caused by cyclical heating and cooling between times of cutting operations and shutdowns, one or more heaters may be utilized to apply heat to one or more components to maintain relatively constant temperatures during periods of cutting operations and/or when cutting operations are paused or stopped.

  • Publication number: 20210234677
Abstract: An authentication server may not support all types of user credentials. For example, an on-premise authentication server may support credentials based on user secrets (i.e. username and password) and certificate-based credentials, but not hardware-key based credentials. A client device may use an un-supported type of credential to access resources managed by the on-premise authentication server by authenticating with a web-based authentication server. The web-based authentication server may support any type of credential, and the supported types of credentials may change over time. The web-based authentication server returns an authenticated user token indicating the user has been authenticated, but without authorizing access to any resources. The client device uses the on-premise authentication server to exchange the authenticated user token for an authorized user token. The client device then uses the authorized user token to access resources on the on-premise network.

  • Publication number: 20210222518
Abstract: Geomechanical parameters can be used to optimize a well configuration that includes one or more projected wells having locations and geometries. Formation data and regional stress information of a formation can be used to determine a local stress variation of the formation. A quality index can be generated by combining petrophysical properties with the local stress variation. Hydrocarbon recovery flow simulations can be generated by generating well configuration models based on the quality index, generating reservoir geomechanical model that includes hydraulic fracture propagation characteristics, determining new hydraulic fractures by simulating propagation through the reservoir geomechanical model and using geomechanical rules, and determining a projected hydrocarbon recovery rate by simulating flow with the new hydraulic fractures. A well placement plan can be selected using the projected hydrocarbon recovery rates. The well placement plan can be output to be used to plan one or more wellbores.
