  • Publication number: 20230305957
Abstract: Various embodiments include techniques for managing cache memory in a computing system. The computing system includes a sectored cache memory that provides a mechanism for software applications to directly invalidate data items stored in the cache memory on a sector-by-sector basis, where a sector is smaller than a cache line. When all sectors in a cache line have been invalidated, the cache line is implicitly invalidated, freeing the cache line to be reallocated for other purposes. In cases where the data items to be invalidated can be aligned to sector boundaries, the disclosed techniques effectively use status indicators in the cache tag memory to track which sectors, and corresponding data items, have been invalidated by the software application. Thus, the disclosed techniques thereby enable a low-overhead solution for invalidating individual data items that are smaller than a cache line without additional tracking data structures or consuming additional memory transfer bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 11755445
Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments that communicate label information for documents between two enterprise computer systems. The two computer systems operate asynchronous from each other, and have limited available resources for use in buffering information passing between them. To that end, traditional API architectures that utilize method calls and return parameters do not operate well in this environment, as a first computer systems resources can become exhausted if a second computer system is able to generate data faster than the first computer system can consume it. The problem is exacerbated if an error is experienced when processing the consumed data, especially if there are no resources available to store the data until the error can be cleared. To solve this problem, the disclosed embodiments provide an ability for a consumer to request that data previously delivered to it be delivered again by the producer, in some embodiments, after a specified time delay.

  • Patent number: 11753922
Abstract: A system or method for drilling includes autonomously controlling a rotary or percussive drilling process as it transitions through multiple materials with very different dynamics. The method determines a drilling medium based on real-time measurements and comparison to prior drilling data, and identifies the material type, drilling region, and approximately optimal setpoint based on data from at least one operating condition. The controller uses these setpoints initially to execute an optimal search to maximize performance by minimizing mechanical specific energy. Near-bit depth-of-cut estimations are performed using a machine learning prediction deployed in an embedded processor to provide high-speed ROP estimates. The sensing capability is coupled with a near-bit clutching mechanism to support drilling dysfunction mitigation.

  • Patent number: 11730362
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for optical coherence metrology or tomography across an extended area of an eye with improved registration. At least two optical coherence tomograms are acquired, with each tomogram containing data from regions of an anterior surface of the eye that are at least partially overlapping, and data from one or more deeper structures such as the retina or the anterior or posterior lens surfaces. The tomograms are then processed to register the data from the overlapping portions of the anterior surface regions, thereby registering the data from the deeper structures. In certain embodiments the reference arm of the apparatus comprises a compound reflector having at least two axially separated reflective surfaces for applying differential delays to different portions of the reference beam. The depth of field of the apparatus is thereby extended to enable measurement of eye length.

  • Patent number: 11725927
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are presented for enhancing the acquisition speed or performance of Fourier domain optical coherence tomography. In preferred embodiments a plurality of wavelength combs containing interleaved selections of wavelengths from a multi-wavelength optical source are generated and projected onto a sample. In certain embodiments the wavelength combs are projected simultaneously onto a plurality of regions of the sample, while in other embodiments the wavelength combs are projected sequentially onto the sample. Light in the wavelength combs reflected or scattered from the sample is detected in a single frame of a sensor array, and the detected light processed to obtain a tomographic profile of the sample. In preferred embodiments the wavelength comb generator comprises a wavelength interleaver in the form of a retro-reflective prism array for imparting different displacements to different selections of wavelengths from the optical source.
