  • Publication number: 20230182441
Abstract: Micromorphologically crack-free vitreous carbon articles having a length and width each of which is at least 10 mm, and a thickness of at least 5 mm are described, as well as multilayer laminates of micromorphologically crack-free vitreous carbon, and corresponding methods and apparatus for manufacture of same. 3D printed vitreous carbon articles are also described, together with 3D printing apparatus and methods for producing same. Methods are also described for forming vitreous carbon containing vitreous carbon nanolattice articles therein as filler. The vitreous carbon compositions, articles, and laminates of the disclosure overcome the thickness limitations of conventional vitreous carbon manufacturing methods and the microcracking issues attendant previous efforts to produce vitreous carbon of substantial size and thickness.

  • Publication number: 20230186546
Abstract: Aspects relate to tracing rays in 3-D scenes that comprise objects that are defined by or with implicit geometry. In an example, a trapping element defines a portion of 3-D space in which implicit geometry exist. When a ray is found to intersect a trapping element, a trapping element procedure is executed. The trapping element procedure may comprise marching a ray through a 3-D volume and evaluating a function that defines the implicit geometry for each current 3-D position of the ray. An intersection detected with the implicit geometry may be found concurrently with intersections for the same ray with explicitly-defined geometry, and data describing these intersections may be stored with the ray and resolved.

  • Publication number: 20230119703
Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing system instructs, at a first time, a camera having a plurality of pixel sensors to use the plurality of pixel sensors to capture a first image of an environment comprising an object. The computing system predicts, using at least the first image, a projection of the object appearing in a virtual image plane associated with a predicted camera pose at a second time. The computing system determines, based on the predicted projection of the object, a first region of pixels and a second region of pixels. The computing system generates pixel-activation instructions for the first region of pixels and the second region of pixels. • Patent number: 11625389
Abstract: Methods for snapshot isolation query transactions in distributed systems are performed by systems and devices. Distributed executions of queries are performed in a processing system according to an isolation level protocol for data management and data versioning across one or more data sets, one or more compute pools, etc., within a logical server via a single transaction manager that oversees the isolation semantics and data versioning. Read transactions of queries are performed lock-free via the isolation semantics, and instant rollbacks, point-in-time queries, single-phase commits in the distributed systems are also provided. Abort and cleanup operations are performed based on a distributed abort protocol and a determined oldest active transaction for the system in which the single transaction manager does not track read-only transactions, and client nodes do not maintain commit tables for transactions.
