  • Publication number: 20100118306
Abstract: Methods of optimizing optical alignment in an optical package are provided. In one embodiment, the optical package includes a laser diode, a wavelength conversion device, coupling optics positioned along an optical path extending from the laser diode to the wavelength conversion device, and one or more adaptive actuators. The method involves adjusting the optical alignment of the wavelength conversion device in a non-adaptive degree of freedom by referring to a thermally-dependent output intensity profile of the laser diode and a thermally-dependent coupling efficiency profile of the optical package.

  • Patent number: 7706155
Abstract: The invention relates to a half-bridge power converter controller that employs current mode control. The power converter controller includes pulse modulation circuitry, error circuitry, and stabilization circuitry. The stabilization circuitry stabilizes the voltage at the mid-point of a half-bridge power converter input capacitor circuit. The input capacitor circuit mid-point voltage is stabilized by selectively adjusting the on-times of the high-side switch and low-side switch of a half-bridge power converter. This adjustment tailors the current that is provided to the input capacitor circuit and thus maintains the mid-point voltage near a desired value.

  • Publication number: 20100083228
Abstract: A program product, apparatuses, and methods provide for the collection of profile information for a component of a software program by generating a data structure that maps at least one method to a component. The method includes a name, and the data structure maps the method to the component using at least a portion of the name of the method. A class or pattern may also be mapped to a component. Furthermore, during profiling, a statistic associated with the execution of the method is determined; the data structure is accessed using the name of the method to determine the associated component; and the determined statistic is associated with the determined component. By doing so, method level and class level information can be aggregated to improve profiling, often leading to a clearer picture of which components are contributing to the performance and memory footprint of large scale software programs.

  • Publication number: 20100043448
Abstract: In a gas turbine engine combustor and method for delivering purge gas thereto, a ferrule is generally coupled to the housing and moveable relative thereto. The ferrule has a primary opening through which a combustor component extends into a combustion chamber of the combustor. The ferrule further has a plurality of purge gas openings separate from and in transversely spaced relationship with the primary opening to allow purge gas to flow through the ferrule. In a first position of the ferrule at least one purge gas opening is blocked against the flow of purge gas therethrough and at least one other purge gas opening is unblocked against purge gas flow. In a second position of the ferrule at least one of the blocked purge gas openings of the first ferrule position is unblocked to permit the flow of purge gas therethrough.

  • Patent number: 7647336
Abstract: According to the preferred embodiments, an apparatus and method is described for creating a real-time class package to class archive file mapping index that improves the performance of a class loader to load needed classes in an object oriented programming environment. In preferred embodiments, the class loader includes a mapping mechanism that creates and maintains a real-time class package to file archive mapping index. In preferred embodiments, the mapping mechanism optimizes access to the file archive mapping index. In a preferred embodiment, when the mapping mechanism finds a entry in the file archive mapping index for the package, but the class is not found, the class is searched in the class path beginning from the last file archive listed in the index to optimize the search. In other embodiments, the class loader includes a large package list that is used to further optimize access to the archive index.

  • Patent number: 7624312
Abstract: A system, apparatus, computer program product and method of performing operational validation on a system are provided. The system may include a CPU with a cache, a communications network, and a plurality of devices exchanging data during a test. When the test is ready to be performed, the CPU may set up a pool of buffers in the cache. The pool of buffers may generally have a set of locations corresponding to locations in an actual destination buffer and a set of locations corresponding to locations in an actual source buffer. During the performance of the test, data is exchanged over the communications network to and from the source and destination buffers. Snooping logic in the cache may snoop data on the communications network. The data snooped may be entered in appropriate locations in the pool of buffers. This allows the CPU to perform operational validation by using cached data instead of data that is in the actual source and destination buffers.

  • Patent number: 7607187
Abstract: A method for abrading or polishing and reaming the terminal ends of tubing or fittings using a hand-held electrically powered device having a rotating member capable of accepting a standard shaft which has attached to it a male and female abrasive member which will polish or abrade the inside and outside of a length tubing or fitting respectively uses the same tool. Also attached to the standard shaft is a reamer for removing unwanted material from the end of the length of tubing. All of these members are attached at the same end of the standard shaft, thereby allowing all the operations to be performed at one time on each tubing or mating fitting member.
