    Abstract: An upper mounting system for a MacPherson strut includes a shock absorber mount and an air spring mount. The air spring mount is disposed coaxially around the shock absorber mount. A curved spherical interface of the air spring mount permits pivotal movement of the air spring such that it maintains a coaxial relationship with the shock absorber. The curved spherical interface also provides a seal for sealing the gas chamber of the air spring.

    Abstract: A system and method for creating a platform independent enhancement file for television employs a web based editor with local functions for repositioning and sizing of displayable elements. Elements comprise text, graphics, images, or imported HTML files. Trigger information associated with elements controls the time and actions performed when rendering the displayable elements. A database comprises data representing elements, element attributes, trigger information and project information. A file generation process queries the database and produces a platform independent XML compatible script file. The script file may be parsed and the resultant HTML/Javascript file may be previewed employing a web browser. The script file may be parsed with other tools to provide HTML files for specific platforms without modification of the script file.

    Abstract: A technique is described to greatly reduce or avoid the quantization errors that occur when mapping a relatively linear RGB color space into a greatly non-linear printer CMY color space of equal precision, avoiding the contouring or banding that occurs when printing color gradients in a non-linear printing system. The technique performs a dither-like process on the original RGB continuous tone data. The RGB values are dithered to create a range of values that, when mapped to the non-linear printer continuous tone CMY values, creates a range of CMY values that, on average, represent the correct average tone of the input RGB values. The generated CMY continuous tone values are then halftoned and printed.

    Abstract: A coarse grain model that mimics a lipid molecule, such as dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC), is used to simulate self-assembly of a lamellar bilayer starting from a disordered configuration. The coarse grain model is orders of magnitude less demanding of CPU time compared to all-atom models. An initial bilayer-like structure is generated from a disordered configuration of the coarse grain models using a Monte Carlo simulation. The initial bilayer-like structure is refined using a molecular dynamics simulation. For relatively small systems, the molecular dynamics simulation can be performed under constant volume or constant pressure conditions. For larger systems, the molecular dynamics simulation is preferably performed under constant pressure conditions.

Unscaled image data is filtered before it is rasterized to the final printing resolution. The filtering specifically enables a separate, near loss-less, compression algorithm to operate on a rasterized page description with high compression ratios. A data compression technique enables a system to compress compound document using a relatively fast and simple algorithm with near loss-less print quality.

    Abstract: A virtual interactive imaging system allows the displaying of high-resolution, three-dimensional images of medical data to a user and allows the user to manipulate the images, including rotation of images in any of various axes. The system includes a mesh component that generates a mesh to represent a surface of an anatomical object, based on a set of data of the object, such as from a CT or MRI scan or the like. The mesh is generated so as to avoid tears, or holes, in the mesh, providing very high-quality representations of topographical features of the object, particularly at high-resolution. The system further includes a virtual surgical cutting tool that enables the user to simulate the removal of a piece or layer of a displayed object, such as a piece of skin or bone, view the interior of the object, manipulate the removed piece, and reattach the removed piece if desired.
