  • Patent number: 10344444
Abstract: An edge protection safety bund system (10) for use in connection with a rock bund made of rock fill. The edge protection safety bund system (10) comprises a bund module (12) having a barrier wall (14) and a base plate (16). The bund module (12) is preferably one of a plurality of bund modules (12) arranged side by side to form an extended barrier wall (14). The barrier wall (14) of each module (12) extends substantially perpendicularly upwards from the base plate (16), and a support web (18) extends at an angle from a rear face of the barrier wall (14) to an upper surface of the base plate (16). In use, when rock fill is dumped onto the rear of the bund modules (12), and allowed to flow back to its natural angle of repose behind the barrier walls (14), it creates a rock bund (20) with a front face formed by the extended barrier wall (14).

  • Patent number: 10183351
Abstract: An arc welding system includes a welding torch, an electrode, and a power supply having a switching-type power converter connected to the torch. A parallel state-based controller is connected to the power converter and provides a waveform control signal thereto for controlling its operations. The controller generates a motion control signal for controlling movements of the electrode and/or the torch. A sensor senses welding voltage or welding current. A memory stores a welding state table comprising sequential control states, and stores a motion control system state table comprising further sequential control states. The welding waveform is defined in the welding state table. The controller controls the operations of the power converter through the waveform control signal according to the welding state table, simultaneously adjusting the motion control signal according to the motion control system state table. The controller transitions between control states according to the signal received from the sensor.

  • Patent number: 10150946
Abstract: The present invention relates to a medium for storing, preserving, culturing, and/or differentiating stem cells. The medium employs a synthetic thermo-responsive copolymer, dispersed in an aqueous vehicle, which allows the medium to be readily “switched” between a non-gelatinous (fluid) form and a gelatinous form by simply adjusting temperature across the gelling temperature of the medium. As such, stem cells can be easily captured within a 3D gel matrix by simply mixing the stem cells with the non-gelatinous/fluid form of the medium and then gelling the medium by adjusting the temperature across the gelling temperature of the medium. The stem cells encapsulated within the gelatinous form of the medium may then be preserved for a significant time period before either using the stem cells directly within the medium (e.g. in therapy, or in culturing, differentiation, and such like), or after their extraction from the medium.

  • Patent number: 9989949
Abstract: A method for predicting the reactive power needs (or other power characteristic needs) for a plurality of customer circuits on an intermediate circuit operably connected to the grid by averaging measurements of utility power characteristics (such as power factor, frequency, and voltage) from a plurality of energy management controllers (or other measuring devices) connected to said customer circuits so that the utility or other grid participant can tailor its power output to meet active and reactive power needs (or other power characteristic needs) to improve transmission efficiency, increase capacity and avoid voltage fluctuations.

  • Publication number: 20180007008
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for managing firewall protection in a datacenter that includes multiple host machines that each hosts a set of data compute nodes. The method maintains a firewall configuration for the host machines at a network manager of the data center. The firewall configuration includes multiple firewall rules to be enforced at the host machines. The method aggregates a first set of updates to the firewall configuration into a first aggregated update and associates the first aggregated update with a first version number. The method distributes a first host-level firewall configuration update to a first host machine based on the first aggregated update and associates the first host machine with the first version number. The method aggregates a second set of updates to the firewall configuration into a second aggregated update and associates the second aggregated update with a second version number.

  • Publication number: 20180007000
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for distributing firewall configuration in a datacenter comprising multiple host machines. The method retrieves a rule in the firewall configuration for distribution to the host machines. The firewall rule is associated with a minimum required version number. The method identifies a high-level construct in the firewall rule. The method queries a translation cache for the identified high-level construct. The translation cache stores previous translation results for different high-level constructs. Each stored translation result is associated with a version number. When the translation cache has a stored previous translation result for the identified high-level construct that is associated with a version number that is equal to or newer than the minimum required version number, the method uses the previous translation result stored in the cache to translate the identified high-level construct to a low-level construct.

  • Patent number: 9765213
Abstract: An aqueous composition comprises an amphiphilic block copolymer, having a hydrophilic block comprising pendant zwitterionic groups and a hydrophobic block, and a biologically active compound associated with the polymer. The polymer is preferably in the form of micelles, and preferably the biological active is a hydrophobic drug. The hydrophilic block is preferably formed from acrylic monomer including phosphorylcholine groups. The hydrophobic group is suitably formed from monomer which has groups which can be ionised at useful pH's, especially tertiary amine groups. Micelles may be formed by dissolving the block copolymer in aqueous solvent at a pH at which the amine groups are protonated then raising the pH to a value at which the amine groups are substantially deprotonated, whereupon micelles spontaneously form. The preformed micelles are then contacted with active, under conditions such that solubilisation of the active occurs. The active may be for tumour treatment.

Abstract: A system for identifying variations at a weld location and accommodating for the variations. The system includes two sensors positioned on each side of a welding location, with a welding device at the welding location. The sensors each emit a signal toward the welding location and receive feedback from the signal that indicates the shape and size of the welding surfaces at the welding location. The sensor information, along with the exact locations and orientations of the sensors, is utilized to determine whether one or more welding parameters should be adjusted.
