  • Patent number: 10016323
Abstract: A collar with a relieved area (3) strategically placed in-between the upper and lower wheelchair leg-rest attachments (2) so a leg-rest can still be removed and installed and where the leg-rest locking arm (6) can lock into place unimpeded. A second collar (4) attached directly below the lower wheelchair leg-rest attachment (2). Both collars (3 and 4) are locked into place using flat-head screws (5). Collars (3 and 4) are of sufficient size to extend horizontally beyond the typically exposed mainframe leg-rest attachments (2). When installed at both leg-rest attachment areas (2) the invention protects a wheelchair user from a laceration injury.

  • Patent number: 10018570
Abstract: Provided are methods and systems for inspecting surfaces of various components, such as evaluating height deviations on these surfaces. A method involves aggregating inspection data from multiple line scanners into a combined data set. This combined data set represents a portion of the surface that is larger than the field of measurement any one of the scanners. Furthermore, each pair of adjacent scanners operate at different periods of time to avoid interference. Because operating periods are offset, surface portions scanned by the pair of adjacent scanners can overlap without interference. This overlap of the scanned portions ensures that the entire surface is analyzed. The position of scanners relative to the inspection surface may be changed in between the scans and, in some embodiments, even during the scan. This approach allows precise scanning of large surfaces.

  • Patent number: 10018546
Abstract: A method that is stored in tangible form and accessible by a data processing system for determination of xenon propellant remaining in a tank for a defined life condition. A heater controller establishes a first stable temperature of a propellant tank. A measurement is performed of a temperature and a pressure at the first stable temperature of the propellant tank. A second higher stable temperature is provided in the propellant tank. A measurement is performed of a temperature and a pressure at a second stable temperature. A computer processor computes a mass based on density and volume in accordance with measurements of temperature and pressure at the first stable temperature and the second stable temperature.

  • Patent number: 10017852
Abstract: A method for transferring a graphene sheet from a copper substrate to a functional substrate includes forming the graphene sheet on the copper substrate using chemical vapor deposition, and irradiating the graphene sheet disposed on the copper substrate with a plurality of xenon ions using broad beam irradiation to form a prepared graphene sheet. The prepared graphene sheet is resistant to forming unintentional defects induced during transfer of the prepared graphene sheet to the functional substrate. The method further includes removing the copper substrate from the prepared graphene sheet using an etchant bath, floating the prepared graphene sheet in a floating bath, submerging the functional substrate in the floating bath, and decreasing a fluid level of the floating bath to lower the prepared graphene sheet onto the functional substrate.

  • Patent number: 10016555
Abstract: A dialysis bloodline set includes an arterial chamber with upper, lower and central portions, in which the maximum section area of the upper and central portions is less than that of the lower portion. The venous chamber may be completely filled with blood in use. The reduced volume of air within the bloodline provides, ceteris paribus, more rapid sensing of fault conditions during dialysis, while the smaller upper portion of the arterial chamber provides a useful medication point and makes manufacture easier.

  • Patent number: 10019904
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for identifying high risk parking lots. High risk parking lots may be, for example, parking lots that pose a higher than average risk of collisions and/or theft. Auto insurance claim data may be analyzed to identify hazardous areas. A virtual navigation of roads within the hazardous area may be identified. Public parking lots within the virtual navigation map may be defined, with each public parking lot determined as either in a hazardous area or not. A vehicle may be determined to be approaching or parking in a parking lot in a hazardous area, and a nearby public parking lot not associated with the hazardous area may be selected instead. A route from a current position to the nearby public parking lot may be generated, and the vehicle may be routed to the nearby public parking lot. As a result, collisions and thefts may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 10019080
Abstract: A method for rejecting an unintentional palm touch is disclosed. In at least some embodiments, a touch is detected by a touch-sensitive surface associated with a display. Characteristics of the touch may be used to generate a set of parameters related to the touch. In an embodiment, firmware is used to determine a reliability value for the touch. The reliability value and the location of the touch is provided to a software module. The software module uses the reliability value and an activity context to determine a confidence level of the touch. In an embodiment, the confidence level may include an evaluation of changes in the reliability value over time. If the confidence level for the touch is too low, it may be rejected.

  • Patent number: 10020417
Abstract: A PV module is formed having an array of PV cells, where the cells are separated by gaps. Each cell contains an array of small silicon sphere diodes (10-300 microns in diameter) connected in parallel. The diodes and conductor layers may be patterned by printing. A continuous metal substrate supports the diodes and conductor layers in all the cells. A dielectric substrate is laminated to the metal substrate. Trenches are then formed by laser ablation around the cells to sever the metal substrate to form electrically isolated PV cells. A metallization step is then performed to connect the cells in series to increase the voltage output of the PV module. An electrically isolated bypass diode for each cell is also formed by the trenching step. The metallization step connects the bypass diode and its associated cell in a reverse-parallel relationship.
