  • Patent number: 10016301
Abstract: Disclosed are devices, methods and systems for treatment of eye disease such as glaucoma. Implants are described herein that enhance aqueous flow through the normal outflow system of the eye with minimal to no complications. The implant can be reversibly deformed to a first shape, such as a generally linear shape conducive to insertion. Upon insertion, the implant can deform to a second shape, such as a generally non-linear shape conducive to retention within the eye. The shape also improves fluid flow from the anterior chamber and prevents or reduces clogging.

  • Patent number: 10017723
Abstract: The present invention provides for passive VOC recovery in the fermentation process that does not affect or minimally affects the conditions within the fermentor vessel and does not affect or minimally affects the conditions within the headspace of the fermentor vessel itself while using the production of CO2 emitted during the fermenting process as the source of driving energy to move a portion of the gaseous/vaporous material in the headspace of the fermentor through an appropriately sized conduit to a chilled surface condensing device to condense the VOCs (principally ethanol) for recovery and to exhaust the CO2 to the atmosphere or to recover the CO2 for other uses.

  • Patent number: 10018686
Abstract: An ultra-low noise sensor for magnetic fields comprises a mechanically resonant structure having a magnetized proof mass. The displacement of the proof mass due to a magnetic field provides a high resolution and highly amplified measurement of magnetic field fluctuations near the resonance frequency. A flux modulator may be used with the resonant structure to amplify magnetic fluctuations in a non-resonant frequency band. The resonant structure, combined with a high resolution readout device and a frequency-compensating numerical processor, can amplify magnetic fluctuations in a broad range of frequencies. A solenoid coil surrounding the resonant structure may be used to null the quasi-static earth's magnetic field and thereby increase the dynamic range of the sensor. Cryogenically cooling the resonant structure can improve the resolution of the sensor. A magnetometer that embodies features of the present invention is miniaturized and has improved amplification and resolution at room temperature.

  • Patent number: 10021703
Abstract: In this invention, we disclose methods directed toward integrating an ad hoc cellular network into a fixed cellular network. The methods disclosed herein automate the creation and integration of these networks. In additional embodiments, we disclose methods for establishing a stand-alone, ad hoc cellular network. In either of these implementations, we integrate or establish an ad hoc cellular network using mobile ad hoc cellular base stations configured to transmit and receive over a variety of frequencies, protocols, and duplexing schemes. The methods flexibly and dynamically choose an access or backhaul configuration and radio characteristics to optimize network performance. Additional embodiments provide for enhancing an existing network's coverage as needed, establishing a local network in the event of a loss of backhaul coverage to the core network, and providing local wireless access service within the ad hoc cellular network.

  • Patent number: 10019277
Abstract: Described herein are systems, methods, and software to provide virtualized computing sessions with attachable volumes to requesting users. In one implementation, a virtual computing service identifies a service login for an end user to initiate a virtual computing session. In response to the service login, the virtual computing service identifies a virtual machine to allocate to the virtual computing service, and initiates a user login process to log the end user into the virtual machine. The virtual computing service further initiates, prior to completing the user login process, a volume attach process to attach at least one storage volume to the virtual machine based on credentials associated with the service login.

  • Publication number: 20180185660
Abstract: Methods and systems in which a first medical device provides patient status details to a second medical device. Patient status details may include one or more of patient posture and/or patient activity level, or other indications of patient status. The second medical device, in response to information about patient status and changes in patient status, uses a sensing configuration management function to respond to and accommodate the change in patient status. In an example, a first medical device monitors patient posture and communicates information related to patient posture to a second medical device, which then tailors sensing configurations to the patient posture.

  • Publication number: 20180188207
Abstract: The invention concerns structural integrity assessment apparatus for determining stress concentration zones in a structure, such as a pipeline. The apparatus allows particularly to detect defects in buried pipelines using magnetometric surveying where anomalies in the magnetic field around the pipelines are detected. The appar-atus has a plurality of triaxial magnetic field sensors, each sensor being arranged to measure magnetic field components in a plurality of directions. A support is provided to maintain said sensors in a predetermined relative spacing and orientation. The support is moveable relative to a structure under assessment in use and may be portable. Three or more magnetic field sensors are provided which may be arranged in a linear, two-dimensional or three-dimensional array. The ap-paratus may include position determining means, such as a global positioning system (GPS), so that stress concentration zones can be located on the structure.

  • Publication number: 20180192093
Abstract: A television playout system that handles playout of a channel, receives a video feed of the channel comprising programming data and a plurality of interstitial content items, and a playout schedule of the channel. Metadata comprising a pre-roll value is inserted at a first insertion point related to a first interstitial content item of the plurality of interstitial content items, based on the playout schedule. An offset is detected in the metadata, based on the first insertion point of the metadata in the video feed, the pre-roll value, and a time-code (TC) jump associated with a second interstitial content item in the video feed. One or more control parameters associated with the insertion of the metadata are calibrated, based on the detected offset to align a splice point related to the first interstitial content item with the TC jump associated with the second interstitial content item.

  • Publication number: 20180189826
Abstract: Systems and methods for a framework for generating predictive models for media planning. In some aspects, control circuitry receives, from a database, reference data associated with a program. The control circuitry receives a future date for insertion of an advertisement during transmission of the program. The control circuitry determines a prediction period between a current date and the future date. The control circuitry determines whether the prediction period exceeds a threshold period. If the prediction period does not exceed the threshold period, the control circuitry selects a first type for a predictive model. If the prediction period exceeds the threshold period, the control circuitry selects a second type for the predictive model. The control circuitry trains the predictive model according to the selected type and based on the reference data. The control circuitry predicts, based on the predictive model, an average audience for insertion of the advertisement.

  • Publication number: 20180188933
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are described for creating custom user interface (“UP”) controls. A networked computing service may determine that an action performed by a user of the service is likely to be repeated, based on previous actions performed by the user and/or other users, parameters of the action including characteristics of an item associated with the action, and other criteria. The networked computing service may generate, or recommend generation of, a custom UI control that automates performance of the action. The networked computing service may automatically determine parameters of the action, and may determine alternative parameters and/or alternative actions if the action cannot be performed using the determined parameters. Custom UI controls may be associated with various computing devices and/or other electronic devices, and categories of custom UI controls may be determined and displayed.
