  • Publication number: 20180169386
Abstract: A medical device securement system is configured to secure medical devices such as catheters in place. The securement system includes an anchor pad that attaches to a patient's skin. A malleable support base is attached to an upper surface of the anchor pad. The support base has front and back inclined surfaces that are separated by an offset surface that extends generally normal to both of the inclined surfaces. A spot of adhesive is applied to one or more of the inclined surfaces. A catheter assembly includes a connector having a first connector portion with a diameter larger than an adjacent second structure. The catheter assembly is attached to the support base with the first connector portion engaged with and supported by the back inclined surface, and the second connector portion engaged with and supported by the front inclined surface.

  • Publication number: 20180172647
Abstract: We disclose a device that both extracts and preconcentrates volatile analytes in preparation for separation by gas chromatography. The device includes a conduit that may include two, and sometimes three, separate sections that are connected end-to-end, but which may be separated prior to inserting into a gas chromatograph port. The inner surface of each section is coated with one or more sorbents, each with a different affinity for volatile analytes. The sorbents may be positioned along the sections of the column in order of relative affinity for volatile analytes. The sections may be heated independently of each other to release the volatile analytes from the sorbents more quickly. This device reduces the time and the temperature required to achieve separation by gas chromatography. The device may be used to perform gas chromatography in ubiquitous environments such as the home or a mobile situation.

  • Publication number: 20180169281
Abstract: A delivery device is for intermittently delivering materials such as liquids or gels over a sustained period of time to a surface in a controlled way. The surface mountable delivery device is capable of delivering, an antimicrobial agent to protect surfaces from microbial contamination and/or to disinfect surfaces, e.g. door handles, push plates, hand rails, etc. as an aid in preventing and/or hindering the spread of infectious agents. The device uses a vertically lapped nonwoven material as the storage medium for the liquid or gel like materials within the device. A non-wicking liquid mediating layer controls transfer of liquid from a reservoir to a contact surface of the device to minimize liquid losses. An elastomeric contact liquid delivery layer is optimized for printability. Use of physical features at the device contact surface prevents pore occlusion on user contact and aids flow of liquid to the contact user.

  • Publication number: 20180174269
Abstract: A tile-based graphics system has a rendering space sub-divided into a plurality of tiles which are to be processed. Graphics data items, such as parameters or texels, are fetched into a cache for use in processing one of the tiles. Indicators are determined for the graphics data items, whereby the indicator for a graphics data item indicates the number of tiles with which that graphics data item is associated. The graphics data items are evicted from the cache in accordance with the indicators of the graphics data items. For example, the indicator for a graphics data item may be a count of the number of tiles with which that graphics data item is associated, whereby the graphics data item(s) with the lowest count(s) is (are) evicted from the cache.

  • Publication number: 20180172693
Abstract: Provided are methods for screening a subject for cancer. The methods involve obtaining a blood sample from the subject and determining a level of Bridging Integrator 1 (BIN1) isoforms comprising exon 12a in the sample. Optionally, the method involves determining a level of 12a+/13? BIN isoform (comprising exon 12a but lacking exon 13) in the sample. An elevated level of 12a+(e.g., 12a+/13?) BIN1 isoforms in the blood sample indicates the subject has cancer. Also provided are methods for determining efficacy of a cancer therapy in a subject and methods of treating cancer. Isolated antibodies that selectively bind human 12a+ BIN1 are also provided as well as kits for determining 12a+/13? BIN1 isoforms.
