  • Patent number: 10009480
Abstract: A system and method for the management of a device, including the establishment and enforcement of policies/rules associated with feature or functions that may be performed with the device. Modern devices are capable of many things, including making and receiving calls, exchanging data, playing games and music, sending and receiving email, accessing web sites, and paying for goods and services. Depending on who is using the device, such as a child, student, or an employee, there may be a need or desire to regulate how that device can be used and to determine who will pay for what goods or services. In addition to providing all of the features associated with a device, service providers need to be able to establish and enforce rules (policies) regulating how and when that device can be used and who will pay for a good or service requested by the user of the device.

  • Patent number: 10009391
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of providing time series data includes maintaining by a web server user account data for each of a plurality of user accounts. Each account is associated with a user. The method includes maintaining, and repeatedly updating, in normative formats, on a time series server, a set of time series. In some aspects, the method further includes, for each user having a user account, serving by the time series server a distinct time series name for each member of the set of time series in a web page over a wide area network to a client computer of the user for display in a browser thereof in such a manner that, when the given user graphically selects the name of a given one of the time series in the browser for invoking a functionality provided by the time series server, there is provided to the server by the browser a unique location identifier of an underlying location, of the selected time series, wherein data for the time series is stored on the server.

  • Patent number: 10005453
Abstract: A vehicle includes a hybrid powertrain with a motor/generator electrically coupled to a high-voltage bus to provide propulsion. The vehicle also includes an integrated starter/generator electrically copulated to a low-voltage bus and configured to start the engine. A vehicle power system includes a power converter electrically coupled between the high-voltage bus and the low-voltage bus. During engine start events, operation of the integrated starter/generator is coordinated with operation of the power converter to reduce voltage sag on the low-voltage bus. An increase rate of current supplied to the integrated starter/generator is limited such that a current output of the power converter does not saturate at a maximum current output for a period of time after initiating the engine start event.

  • Patent number: 10007263
Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring use, determining risk, and pricing insurance policies for a vehicle having one or more autonomous or semi-autonomous operation features are provided. According to certain aspects, with the customer's permission, it may be detected by sensors that an occupant of the autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle is experiencing a medical emergency. A nearby medical facility may be determined based upon the vehicle location and the detected medical emergency. A route from the current vehicle location to the medical facility may be determined, and the autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be automatically directed or routed to the medical facility. A message may also be generated and transmitted to the medical facility to alert them that a person in need of timely medical assistance is on the way. Life and auto insurance discounts may be generated for risk averse customers based upon their vehicles having the emergency response functionality.

  • Patent number: 10005233
Abstract: A kit for fusing piping includes a plurality of couplings, each coupling having a susceptor layer concentric with a weld zone. A control unit provides a current to a wand with a handle for gripping by a user. The handle has opposing jaws mounted on the distal end, each jaw including an arcuate conductor such that the arcuate conductors form a circular inner diameter when the jaws make contact. A lever system couples to the distal end for opening and closing the jaws. The lever system includes a spring for selectively biasing the lever system in a latched position with jaws closed and an open position with the jaws open. Each coupling is sized such that the jaws will only close about the weld zone. The arcuate conductors create a fuse zone about the susceptor layer and the spring is outside the fuse zone.

  • Publication number: 20180176251
Abstract: Multiple deception techniques utilized to mislead malicious entities that attempt to gather information associated with a computing device are implemented by changing a single result. In one aspect, requests for screen captures are intercepted and it is determined whether the requests are triggered due to user interaction (e.g., pressing a button and/or key) and/or received from an authorized application/device. If determined that the requests are not triggered due to user interaction and/or are received from an unauthorized application/device, a response comprising one of several pre-prepared or dynamically generated screen captures that are embedded (and/or appended) with misleading information (e.g., fake credentials, fake documents marked as important/hidden, etc.) is generated. Applications that attempt to utilize the misleading information can be flagged as malware.

  • Publication number: 20180172918
Abstract: An all-solid state optical transmit/receive terminal includes binary optical switches to steer an optical beam, without mechanical components, phased array of emitters/collectors or large number of phase shifters. A lens optically couples a surface array of emitters/collectors to free space, giving each emitter/collector a respective direction in free space. The emitters/collectors are also coupled, via an “H-tree” or other branched optical waveguide network, to a common input/output port, and from there to a receiver and/or transmitter. The binary optical switches are disposed at optical junctions of the optical waveguide network. ON switches pass an optical signal through the optical waveguide network, between the common input/output port and one or more selected emitter/collectors, thereby selecting a free space direction(s). Only a relatively small subset of the binary optical switches needs to be ON, therefore powered, simultaneously at any given time.
