  • Patent number: 9096483
Abstract: Processes for the disproportionation and isomerization of a hydrocarbon feed using a liquid catalyst comprising an ionic liquid and a carbocation promoter are described. The ionic liquid is unsupported, and the reactions occur at temperatures below the decomposition temperature of the ionic liquid, typically below about 250° C. • Patent number: 9086353
Abstract: An optical instrument (10) has a drop-supporting surface for receiving a droplet (98) of liquid with a cover (16) mounted on the housing (12) which receives a light source and provides communication between the light source (114) and the inner surface of the cover. A loading aperture (24) extending through the cover permits access to the drophead when the cover is in a first rotational loading position, and the cover may be rotated to a measurement position in which the light source is positioned to illuminate the drop-supporting surface. A positioning mechanism provided between the cover an the housing engages the cover when it reaches the measurement position and thereby ensures that the light source and drop-supporting surface are maintained in fixed spaced-apart relationship.

  • Patent number: 9079176
Abstract: A method for regenerating deactivated acidic ionic liquid catalyst containing conjunct polymer is described. The method includes contacting the deactivated acidic ionic liquid catalyst containing the conjunct polymer with at least one Brønsted acid in a regeneration zone under regeneration conditions, resulting in a mixture comprising regenerated acidic ionic liquid catalyst, the Brønsted acid, the released conjunct polymer. The Brønsted acid is derived from a mineral acid and contains at least one organic group. The released conjunct polymer can be separated from the regenerated acidic ionic liquid catalyst and the at least one Brønsted acid.

  • Publication number: 20150190749
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method and apparatus for estimating the amount of ammonia output from an SCR device by determining a NOx conversion efficiency of the SCR device using a variance of a NOx input measurement and a variance of a NOx output measurement, obtaining an estimate of NOx output from the SCR device using the NOx conversion efficiency and using that estimate to determine an estimate of ammonia output from the SCR device.

  • Publication number: 20150153473
Abstract: Electromagnetic exploration methods are used to identify a subsurface anomalous feature. This is sometimes difficult in the presence of large fields from the transmitter or other surrounding material that may be above and around the subsurface feature. By constructing linear combinations of the field and gradients of the field it is possible to remove the large fields associated with the transmitter and the surrounding material to make identification of the anomalous subsurface material easier. The fields and gradients can also be combined so as to provide estimates of other electromagnetic field quantities that would be otherwise difficult to measure, for example the electric field or the time derivative of the electric field.

  • Publication number: 20150005560
Abstract: A process of tuning a hydrocarbon product composition is described. The process involves selecting paraffins for reaction. The equilibrium constants for reactions of the selected paraffins can be used to select appropriate feed ratios, or an equilibrium composition as function of C/H molar ratio.
