Patent number: 7562187Abstract: Double buffering of serial transfers is provided in order to allow for increased serial transfer rate without requiring increased internal processing speeds. A laser driver serial controller serially receives a word including address bits and data bits. During a write operation, the address bits are serially shifted into an address shift register of the laser driver, and the data bits are serially shifted into a data shift register of the laser driver. After the address bits and data bits are completely shifted into the respective address and data shift registers, the address bits and data bits are transferred in parallel to address and data holding registers of the laser driver. After the parallel transfers of the address bits and data bits from the address and data shift registers to the address and data holding registers, the address and data shift registers are available to serially receive additional address bits and data bits of an additional word.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2008Date of Patent: July 14, 2009Assignee: Elantec Semiconductor, Inc.Inventors: D. Stuart Smith, Theodore D. Rees, Miguel Gabino Perez

Patent number: 7546397Abstract: Methods and systems for allowing multiple devices to share the same serial lines (e.g., SDIO, SEN and SCLK) are provided. Such devices can be located, e.g., on an optical pick-up unit. Each device includes a serial interface, a device enable number (DEN) that differs from the DEN of each other device, and a plurality of registers, with at least one register being designated a device select register (DSR). The DSRs of the plurality of devices share a common address. The plurality of serial interfaces are collectively enabled and collectively disabled (e.g., via the SEN line). However, only one of the plurality of serial interfaces can be selected at one time, with the remaining of the plurality of serial interfaces being deselected. The serial interface of a device is selected when the DEN of the device is the same as the content of the DSR of the device, and deselected when the DEN of the device is not the same as the content of the DSR of the device.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2007Date of Patent: June 9, 2009Assignee: Intersil Americas Inc.Inventors: Theodore D. Publication number: 20090095739Abstract: An improved oven is aimed at optimizing heat transfer and delivering an optimal cooking efficiency in comparison to conventional high-speed cooking ovens. The oven includes tubes that generate plume arrays of a heated gas and introduce them into a cooking chamber of the oven. The tubes may be removably located at the bottom of the cooking chamber of the oven. The tubes are dimensioned for hot air impingement to tighten impingement plume arrays, subject to the space constraints of the oven's cooking chamber. With the optimized cooking efficiency provided by the present invention, high-speed cooking technology may now be extended to ovens operating on a power supply based on a voltage less than 220 volts, preferably between 110 and 125 volts, with more productive results, so that the high-speed cooking technology may find wider applicability and a broader customer base.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 6, 2008Publication date: April 16, 2009Inventors: Philip R. McKee, Earl R. Winkelmann, Scott Stuart Smith, Lee Thomas VanLanen

Patent number: 7315592Abstract: A noise cancellation system configured to isolate and process a common mode noise signal to generate a cancellation signal. The cancellation signal is combined with a differential signal to cancel unwanted differential mode noise that coupled onto the differential signal. In one embodiment a multi-channel communication system utilizes two or more channels that are in close proximity to other alien channels. A common mode signal isolation unit is configured to isolate common mode noise. The common mode noise signal is processed with a filter or other means to generate a cancellation signal. The cancellation signal is combined with the differential signal to thereby cancel noise that coupled onto the differential signal. The processed common mode noise signal may be made to approximate the differential mode noise signal. The common mode signal may be obtained from a center tap of a transformer, or a sensing winding of a three winding transformer.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2004Date of Patent: January 1, 2008Assignee: Aktino, Inc.Inventors: Michail Konstantinos Tsatsanis, Christopher Stuart Smith, Benedict A. Publication number: 20070177944Abstract: Disclosed are a method and apparatus for laying down, abandoning and/or recovering a pipe on the sea floor. During lay-down and abandonment, the pipe is lowered by a high capacity winch to an intermediate depth, at which the loading exerted by the pipe has dropped to within the rated capacity of a low capacity winch, to which the loading is then transferred. The high capacity winch line is then recovered to the attendant vessel and the pipe lowered to the sea floor using the low capacity winch. Pipe recovery is essentially a reversal of the above procedure. In this way, the length of the line of the high capacity winch is considerably reduced, which reduces the winch size and hence cost.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2007Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: SUBSEA 7 LTD.Inventors: Stuart Smith, Mark Olson
