  • Patent number: 10045385
Abstract: A method and apparatus may be used to establish a communication link between devices such as VHT access points (AP)s or VHT wireless transmit/receive units (WTRU)s. For example, an AP or a WTRU may transmit management action request frames such as Association, Direct Link Setup (DLS) or Tunneled Direct Link Setup (TDLS) request frames. The management action frame may include VHT Capability information of the AP or the WTRU. In response to the management action request frame, the receiving AP or WTRU may transmit management action response frames to establish a communication link. Existing 802.11 management action frames may be used to include the VHT Capability information. The VHT Capability information may be used to implement various VHT features such as channel configurations or Beamforming.

  • Publication number: 20180115922
Abstract: A method for receiving a backoff value at a wireless station is presented. A traffic indication map is received at the station, wherein a backoff number is implicitly assigned to the station based on a position of the station within the traffic indication map. • Publication number: 20180103410
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for enabling very high throughput (VHT) communications. A wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) may receive, from an access point (AP), a management frame comprising VHT capabilities information. The VHT capabilities information may comprise an indication of support for reception via non-contiguous channels. The WTRU may transmit, on a condition that reception via non-contiguous channels is supported, at least one data packet, to the AP, via multiple non-contiguous channels. The multiple non-contiguous channels may be used simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 9942927
Abstract: A method for performing active scanning by a non-AP STA may comprise transmitting, to a group of APs, one or more probe request frames and receiving in response, configuration chance count (CCC) values from first and second APs of the group of APs. The CCC values may be integer values that represent configuration instances of the respective APs. The CCC values may be stored in a memory of the non-AP STA. A determination may be made, based on the information stored in the memory, as to which AP is preferred. An association procedure may be performed with the preferred AP. Other disclosed methods employ passive scanning.

  • Patent number: 9936423
Abstract: Enhancements are provided for the radio link control (RLC) protocol in wireless communication systems where variable RLC packet data unit (PDU) size is allowed. When flexible RLC PDU sizes are configured by upper layers, radio network controller (RNC)/Node B flow control, RLC flow control, status reporting and polling mechanisms are configured to use byte count based metrics in order to prevent possible buffer underflows in the Node B and buffer overflows in the RNC. The enhancements proposed herein for the RLC apply to both uplink and downlink communications.

  • Publication number: 20180084580
Abstract: Enhanced protocols and devices may be used to alleviate loss of spectrum efficiency in wideband transmission. The protocols may implement a wideband transmission opportunity (TXOP) truncation where one or more of the channels involved in communication over the wideband are released. In one scenario, an access point (AP) may receive, from a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), a first CF-End frame that includes a duration field and a basic service set identifier (BSSID) field that includes an individual/group bit. On a condition that the individual/group bit of the BSSID field has a value of one (1), the AP may determine that a scrambling sequence of the first CF-End frame indicates a bandwidth associated with a transmit opportunity (TXOP) being truncated by the WTRU. The AP may then transmit a second CF-End frame at the bandwidth indicated by the scrambling sequence of the first CF-End frame.

  • Patent number: 9844075

The protocols may implement a wideband transmission opportunity (TXOP) truncation where one or more of the channels involved in communication over the wideband are released. In one scenario, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may obtain a TXOP for a 2 MHz bandwidth mode frame transmission with another device capable of operating in a 2 MHz bandwidth mode and a 1 MHz bandwidth mode. The WTRU may conduct a request-to-send (RTS)/clear-to-send (CTS) frame exchange in the second bandwidth mode, and truncate the TXOP by transmitting a contention free (CF)-End frame in the first and second bandwidth modes. In another scenario, an AP may obtain a TXOP for a 2 MHz bandwidth mode frame transmission with a WTRU capable of both 2 MHz and 1 MHz bandwidth modes.

  • Patent number: 9793975
Abstract: A method for associating a new end-station (end-STA) with a relay access point (R-AP) in a relay transmission. An assignment of a new identifier is transmitted to the new end-STA, wherein traffic indication map indications for the new end-STA in a beacon from the R-AP follows the transmission of the new identifier assignment. A message is sent to a root access point (AP), the message including an indication of a number of information fields in the message and at least one information field, each of the at least one information fields including an identifier of one end-STA associated with the R-AP. An acknowledgement is received from the root AP on a condition that the root AP correctly receives the message and associates an identifier of the end-STA with an identifier of the R-AP.

  • Publication number: 20170287039
Abstract: A networked communication system allows a vendor that maintains a website to prioritize, select, and establish human-assisted interaction with customers interacting with the website or navigating a brick-and-mortar store. The system maintains databases populated with customer-specific data, including experiential information that reflects past and current customer activity. The vendor's human help agents are provided with intuitive interfaces that rank customers using agent-specific ranking rules applied to user data and experiential information. The databases are updated responsive to user activity. Agents can manage ranking rules to optimize their performance in responding to customers and thus improve customer experience.

  • Publication number: 20170273021
Abstract: A method and apparatus may be used for assigning groups of stations in wireless communications to one or more groups. Groups may be assigned by an access point (AP) based on information received from a station (STA). Group information may be signaled to each station and a group identifier may be indicated in a frame. The group information may be applied to a performance enhancement, for example power savings for the station, wherein the station enters a power saving mode on a condition that the station determines that it is not a member of the group.
