  • Patent number: 9585043
Abstract: A method for channel sounding by an access point includes transmitting a sounding frame to a plurality of mobile stations (STAs). The sounding frame includes training symbols to be measured by each of the plurality of STAs. A sounding response frame is received from each of the plurality of STAs. The sounding response frame received from a first STA of the plurality of STAs is received at a short interframe spacing interval delay after completion of the sounding request frame transmission.

  • Patent number: 9554398
Abstract: Enhancements are provided for the radio link control (RLC) protocol in wireless communication systems where variable RLC packet data unit (PDU) size is allowed. When flexible RLC PDU sizes are configured by upper layers, radio network controller (RNC)/Node B flow control, RLC flow control, status reporting and polling mechanisms are configured to use byte count based metrics in order to prevent possible buffer underflows in the Node B and buffer overflows in the RNC. The enhancements proposed herein for the RLC apply to both uplink and downlink communications.

  • Patent number: 9521617
Abstract: A method and apparatus may be used for peer-to-peer communication. The method and apparatus may allow for network connectivity during the peer-to-peer communication session. The network connectivity may be provided via Scheduled and/or Unscheduled AP Connection times/periods. A station (STA) may be configured to negotiate access point (AP) Connection times/periods with a peer STA for a direct link which may be on a basic service set (BSS) channel or on a non-BSS channel. The STAs may communicate with the AP during the agreed AP Connection times/periods and return to the direct link for peer-to-peer communication.

  • Patent number: 9510375
Abstract: A methods and apparatus may be used for accelerated link setup. A method may include a station (STA) acquiring information about an access point of an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 network in advance through a previously connected IEEE 802.11 interface and/or an interface other than the IEEE 802.11 network. The STA may use the acquired information during a link setup procedure between the STA and the access point. The information may include a suggestion for a specific procedure to complete the link setup procedure between the STA and the access point.

  • Publication number: 20160323802
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for enabling very high throughput (VHT) communications. A wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) may receive, from an access point (AP), a management frame comprising VHT capabilities information. The VHT capabilities information may comprise an indication of support for reception via non-contiguous channels. The WTRU may transmit, on a condition that reception via non-contiguous channels is supported, at least one data packet, to the AP, via multiple non-contiguous channels. The multiple non-contiguous channels may be used simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20160295610
Abstract: Enhanced protocols and devices may be used to alleviate loss of spectrum efficiency in wideband transmission. The protocols may implement a wideband transmission opportunity (TXOP) truncation where one or more of the channels involved in communication over the wideband are released. In one scenario, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may obtain a TXOP for a 2 MHz bandwidth mode frame transmission with another device capable of operating in a 2 MHz bandwidth mode and a 1 MHz bandwidth mode. The WTRU may conduct a request-to-send (RTS)/clear-to-send (CTS) frame exchange in the second bandwidth mode, and truncate the TXOP by transmitting a contention free (CF)-End frame in the first and second bandwidth modes. In another scenario, an AP may obtain a TXOP for a 2 MHz bandwidth mode frame transmission with a WTRU capable of both 2 MHz and 1 MHz bandwidth modes.

  • Patent number: 9386531
Abstract: A base station configured for outer loop power control receives an uplink dedicated channel transmission from a wireless transmit/receive unit. The base station transmits transmit power control commands in response to the received uplink channel transmission and determines if the wireless transmit/receive unit is in a discontinuous transmission mode. The base station adjusts a target SIR based on which transmission mode for the wireless transmit/receive unit is detected. The value for the transmit power control command is derived from the adjusted target SIR.
