  • Publication number: 20170111236
Abstract: A network management system manages a virtual network includes an interface system communicatively coupled to one or more servers, a director engine, and a configuration engine. The one or more servers implement a virtual network including one or more virtual machines and one or more containers organized into one or more virtual domains. The interface system generates a graphical user interface displaying graphical representations of the one or more virtual machines and the one or more containers and of the one or more servers; and information associated with the virtual network. The director engine receives a user selection of at least one server, virtual machine, container, or virtual domain, accesses information associated with the user selection, and identifies one or more of servers, virtual machines, containers, and virtual domains associated with the user selection.

  • Patent number: 9529718
Abstract: To efficiently transfer of data from a cache to a memory, it is desirable that more data corresponding to the same page in the memory be loaded in a line buffer. Writing data to a memory page that is not currently loaded in a row buffer requires closing an old page and opening a new page. Both operations consume energy and clock cycles and potentially delay more critical memory read requests. Hence it is desirable to have more than one write going to the same DRAM page to amortize the cost of opening and closing DRAM pages. A desirable approach is batch write backs to the same DRAM page by retaining modified blocks in the cache until a sufficient number of modified blocks belonging to the same memory page are ready for write backs.

  • Patent number: 9439556
Abstract: A system for autonomous camera control includes a first robot having a surgical tool mounted as an end effector and a second robot having a camera mounted as an end effector. A controller may be provided for manipulating the second robot, where the controller stores a first kinematic model for the first robot and a second kinematic model for the second robot. The controller may be configured to automatically manipulate the second robot to position the camera based on the second kinematic model and an expected position of the surgical tool according the first kinematic model of the first robot. The controller is further configured to identify a threshold angle from a viewing axis of the camera, calculate a tool angle from the viewing axis of the camera, and move the camera toward or further away from the tool depending on if the tool angle is greater than or less than the threshold angle.

  • Publication number: 20160194551
Abstract: Treatment methods and treatment fluids for increasing permeability of organic shale formations are described herein. The treatment method includes treating an organic shale formation with a treatment fluid. The treatment fluid includes a solvent that dissolves bitumen in the shale formation. After treating the shale formation with the treatment fluid, oil is recovered from the shale formation. By removing bitumen from pores and pore throats within the formation, the solvent increases permeability of the formation and allows mobile oil to flow more easily through the formation.

  • Publication number: 20160117308
Abstract: Large and complex data sets can be difficult to view on devices with small screens, such as on smartphones, or in small windows on devices with large screens. The presently disclosed systems, methods and apparatus can determine characteristics associated with a display used to display a requested resource. Based on these determined characteristics, the systems and methods can determine whether the requested resource should be reformatted to fit the display. The requested resource can be reformatted to allow a user to consume complex data on a small display easily and effectively. In some embodiments, this can be done by ensuring that the current data context, previously provided by row/column headers, are always in view in a compact format.

  • Publication number: 20160049181
Abstract: Embodiments are described for methods and systems for mapping virtual memory pages to physical memory pages by analyzing a sequence of memory-bound accesses to the virtual memory pages, determining a degree of contiguity between the accessed virtual memory pages, and mapping sets of the accessed virtual memory pages to respective single physical memory pages. Embodiments are also described for a method for increasing locality of memory accesses to DRAM in virtual memory systems by analyzing a pattern of virtual memory accesses to identify contiguity of accessed virtual memory pages, predicting contiguity of the accessed virtual memory pages based on the pattern, and mapping the identified and predicted contiguous virtual memory pages to respective single physical memory pages.

  • Publication number: 20150331752
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of storage of encoded blocks of files on user-equipment along with the datacenter. Files are coded on the user equipment and coded blocks are distributed among participating user end devices and the data center storage fabric. The storage of parts of file on the user equipment reduces the storage requirement at the data center and reconstruction at the user equipment releases the data center off the processing overhead. Similarly, North-South and East-West traffic is reduced since only a coded part of the file is transported to the data center unlike conventional data centers where entire files are stored on the data center. The invention reduces processing and storage overhead at the data center while reducing the amount of traffic generated for the data center.

  • Patent number: 9139476
Abstract: Cement retarders for well cements are based on hydrophobins. Hydrophobins are proteins or polypeptides that form hydrophobic coatings on surfaces. The size of the hydrophobins is preferably between about 100 and 350 amino acids, and the preferred hydrophobin concentration is between about 0.001% and 1.0% by weight of cement. Portland cement is the preferred well cement. Cement slurries containing hydrophobins are useful for both primary and remedial cementing applications.
