  • Publication number: 20150248595
Abstract: A reconfigurable license plate recognition (LPR) processing apparatus and method for facilitating rapid development of LPR applications of various kinds and forms are disclosed. The LPR apparatus consists of processing hardware and software that can be configured manually or automatically into a plurality of operating modes that are designed to match the needs of various LPR applications. One or a plurality of appropriately configured LPR processing apparatuses along with LPR cameras and other required equipment can be assembled and operated in desired modes to build a variety of small-scale and large-scale LPR products. In addition, the LPR processing apparatus can be reconfigured when needed to match the changing requirements of an evolving LPR application, thereby eliminating the need to develop application-specific LPR hardware and software.

  • Patent number: 8976802
Abstract: An arbitration technique for determining mappings for a switch is described. During a given arbitration decision cycle, an arbitration mechanism maintains, until expiration, a set of mappings from a subset of the input ports to a subset of the output ports of the switch. This set of mappings was determined during an arbitration decision cycle up to K cycles preceding the given arbitration decision cycle. Because the set of mappings are maintained, it is easier for the arbitration mechanism to determine mappings from a remainder of the input ports to the remainder of the output ports without collisions.

  • Publication number: 20150067264
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method of managing cache memory includes identifying a group of cache lines in a cache memory, based on a correlation between the cache lines. The method also includes tracking evictions of cache lines in the group from the cache memory and, in response to a determination that a criterion regarding eviction of cache lines in the group from the cache memory is satisfied, selecting one or more (e.g., all) remaining cache lines in the group for eviction.

  • Publication number: 20150067266
Abstract: A level of cache memory receives modified data from a higher level of cache memory. A set of cache lines with an index associated with the modified data is identified. The modified data is stored in the set in a cache line with an eviction priority that is at least as high as an eviction priority, before the modified data is stored, of an unmodified cache line with a highest eviction priority among unmodified cache lines in the set.

  • Publication number: 20150041134
Abstract: A cement slurry composition is described as having cement, water, and organic polymer particles. The composition also includes non-ionic surfactants, which may contain ethoxylate groups or contain both ethoxylate groups and propoxylate groups in the hydrophilic part. The non-ionic surfactant acts to disperse the hydrophobic polymeric particles in the slurry, thereby reducing mixing time. The cement slurry composition is prepared and then pumped into the subterranean well and placed in a zone of the subterranean well. Time is then allowed for the cement slurry composition to set and form a solid mass in the zone.

  • Patent number: 8800036
Abstract: The input characteristics of a real-time IDS change continuously with time therefore setting a rigid (time and behavior invariant) classification threshold limits the accuracy that the IDS can potentially achieve. A generic threshold tuning method and system is proposed which can adaptively tune the detection threshold of a real-time IDS in accordance with varying host and network behavior. The method and system perform statistical and information-theoretic analysis of network and host-based IDSs' anomaly based intrusions to reveal a consistent time correlation structure between benign activity periods which is used to predict future anomaly scores and to adapt an IDS' detection threshold accordingly.
