Abstract: A heater includes a handle, a combustion chamber, a valve and a thermal controller. A reservoir for fuel can be installed in the handle. The combustion chamber is mounted on the handle. The valve is received in the handle. The valve defines a passage through which fuel can flow from the reservoir into the combustion chamber for combustion. The thermal controller includes a memory element at least partially received in the combustion chamber and a rod connected between the memory element and the valve for controlling a rate at which fuel can flow through the passage defined in the valve based on the temperature in the combustion chamber. The memory element is a helical memory metal element. The memory element shrinks or expands when the temperature increases above a certain value.

Abstract: A multilayered PCB including two multilayered portions, one of these able to electrically connect electronic components mounted on the PCB to assure high frequency connections therebetween. The PCB further includes a conventional PCB portion to reduce costs while assuring a structure having a satisfactory overall thickness for use in the PCB field. Coupling is also possible to the internal portion from these components. Methods of making these structures have also been provided.

Abstract: An optical-electronic package for an electronic device provides electrical connections to the electronic device and optical fiber connections to the electronic device. The package includes a high thermal conductivity base which has a pedestal to support and provide heat transfer connection to the electronic device. A seal band is formed on the base and a casing is bonded to the seal band. The casing has side feedthroughs for the electrical connections from the electronic device, and the casing has top feedthroughs or grooves for the optical fiber connections from the electronic device. A lid is hermetically sealed to the top of the casing. The lid has retractable means for forming a bend in the optical fibers to provide strain relief when the lid is placed on the casing. The retractable means for forming a bend in the optical fibers is retractable once the lid is sealed on the casing.

Abstract: Systems and surgical techniques for presbyopia correction by laser removal of the sclera tissue are disclosed. The disclosed preferred embodiments of the system consists of a beam spot controller, a fiber delivery unit and a fiber tip. The basic laser including UV lasers and infrared lasers having wavelength ranges of (0.15-0.36) microns and (1.9-3.2) microns and diode lasers of about 0.98, 1.5 and 1.9 microns. Presbyopia is treated by a system which uses an ablative laser to ablate the sclera tissue outside the limbus to increase the accommodation of the ciliary body of the eye. The sclera tissue may be ablated by the laser with or without the conjunctiva layer open.

Abstract: The vocal circuit for a hand tool includes a circuit board, a switch connected with the circuit board, and a chip and a speaker installed on the circuit board. The hand tool may be a gas-burning soldering device including a fuel reservoir, a soldering iron subject to heat caused via burning fuel flowing from a pipe and an igniter received in the shell for igniting the fuel. The switch of the vocal circuit is located between a button of the igniter and a main switch mounted on the shell. The main switch includes a pin extending into the shell for contact with the switch of the vocal circuit and the button of the igniter through the switch of the vocal circuit.

Abstract: The present invention provides a solution to the problem of weakening bond integrity in integrated circuit devices due in part to test probes galling and weakening the interconnect pads during functional and reliability test probing. In doing so, the invention enables a lowering of the chance a bond wire or interconnect pad will be lifted during a wire bonding process or in normal operation of an integrated circuit device.

Abstract: A gas-containing apparatus includes a can, a bag and a cover. The bag is installed in the can. The bag includes a tube formed thereon and with an internal side and an external side, a thread formed on the external side of the tube and a boss formed on the external side of the tube. The cover is mounted on the can. The cover includes a valve with an external side and an internal side, a thread formed on the internal side of the valve for engagement with the thread of the bag and a recess defined in the valve for receiving the boss, thus avoiding rotation of the tube relative to the valve.

Abstract: A cigarette lighter includes a body, a valve, a nozzle, an ignition device, a lever, a latch and an alarm. The body stores fuel. The valve is in communication with the body and movable between a closed position for keeping the fuel in the body and an open position for transferring the fuel from the body. The nozzle is in communication with the valve for spraying the fuel. The ignition device is mounted on the body for igniting the fuel sprayed from the nozzle. The lever is connected between the valve and the ignition device so that the valve is in the closed position when the ignition device is idle and that the valve is in the open position when the ignition device is actuated. The latch is movably mounted on the body between a locking position for preventing actuation of the ignition device and a releasing position for allowing actuation of the ignition device. The alarm is for contact with the latch for providing an alert in the releasing position of the latch.

Abstract: Presbyopia is treated by a method which uses various lasers to remove a portion of the scleral tissue and increase the accommodation of the presbyopic patient's eye. Stable accommodation is achieved by the filling of the sub-conjunctival tissue to the laser-ablated scleral areas. The proposed laser wavelength ranges from ultraviolet to infrared of (0.15-0.36) microns, (0.5-1.4) microns and (0.9-10.6) microns. Both scanning and fiber delivered systems are proposed.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate to compositions for delivering bone growth inducing material (e.g., to viable bone and/or other skeletal tissues to repair defects and the like). More particularly, various embodiments of the present invention relate to delivery mechanisms for an osteotherapeutic material (e.g., osteoinductive and/or osteoconductive materials), including (but not limited to) demineralized bone matrix (“DBM”) and cortical-cancellous bone chips (“CCC”). Certain compositions according to various embodiments of the present invention may comprise mixtures of a physiologically acceptable biodegradable carrier, an osteoinductive material, and/or an osteoconductive material (e.g., DBM and CCC). The compositions may thus be applied (for example, to defective bone tissue and/or other viable tissue) to induce formation of new bone. Other embodiments of the present invention relate to the preparation of compositions and methods of using such compositions.

The at least one boss is a semi-cylinder, and the at least one recess is semicircular. The shell includes two bosses, and each of the edges by the slot of the switch actuator defines a recess for receiving one of the bosses.

Abstract: Presbyopia is treated by a method which uses various lasers to remove a portion of the scleral tissue and increase the accommodation of the presbyopic patient's eye By changing the laser power density, fluency or spot size, a single laser device having dual-function of ablation and coagulation is proposed for minimum bleeding. Fiber-bundle coupled to a single fiber is presented to increase the power density of the laser for efficient tissue ablation New mechanisms of lens curvature change and lens anterior shift are proposed for the total accommodation. The preferred laser wavelength ranges from ultraviolet to infrared including (0.15-0.36) microns, (0.9-1.6) microns, (1.8-2.2) microns and (2.8-3.2) microns Both scanning and fiber delivered systems are proposed.
