  • Patent number: 8134163
Abstract: A semiconductor device having light-emitting diodes (LEDs) formed on a concave textured substrate is provided. A substrate is patterned and etched to form recesses. A separation layer is formed along the bottom of the recesses. An LED structure is formed along the sidewalls and, optionally, along the surface of the substrate between adjacent recesses. In these embodiments, the surface area of the LED structure is increased as compared to a planar surface. In another embodiment, the LED structure is formed within the recesses such that the bottom contact layer is non-conformal to the topology of the recesses. In these embodiments, the recesses in a silicon substrate result in a cubic structure in the bottom contact layer, such as an n-GaN layer, which has a non-polar characteristic and exhibits higher external quantum efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20110253348
Abstract: An ionic thermal dissipation device includes an ionic wind generating system and a power system to drive the ionic wind generating system. The power system first converts external direct current power signals into alternating current (AC) power signals, and boosts the AC power signals. The power system doubles voltage of the boosted AC power signals, and rectifies the boosted AC power signals to generate high voltage direct current power signals to drive the ionic wind generating system. The power system also detects current signals generated by ion excitation of the ionic wind generating system, and regulates the high voltage direct current power signals according to the detected current signals.

  • Publication number: 20110134091
Abstract: An electronic apparatus and a backlight brightness control method thereof are provided. The control method includes the following steps. Detection of an ambient brightness for the electronic apparatus is made to output an ambient brightness signal. Next, whether to adjust the backlight brightness for the display is determined according to a comparison between the ambient brightness signal and a current backlight brightness. If the comparison result indicates that the ambient brightness decrement is lower than a decrement threshold, then an adjustment value is selected from a plurality of step sizes according to the current backlight brightness to decrease the backlight brightness gradually, so that the backlight brightness changes towards a target backlight brightness corresponding to the ambient brightness signal. The step sizes include a first step size and a second step size. The backlight brightness for the display is adjusted according to the current backlight brightness and the adjustment value.

  • Patent number: 7953041
Abstract: A method for configuring a wireless distribution system is provided. In the method, a target node starts a building procedure and begins to broadcast a building information. A joining node starts a scanning procedure for scanning all channels available and locks one channel used by the target node. The joining node sends a connect request signal and a channel assign request to the target node. The target node selects one link and one channel available for the joining node for communication, and sends a channel reset signal to the joining node. The MAC address of the joining node is added into an internal table of the target node. After the joining node has received the channel reset signal, the MAC address of the target node is stored into an internal table of the joining node, and the designated link channel is configured.
