  • Publication number: 20120131180
Abstract: Provided is a technique for adequately allocating hardware resources of physical hardware to virtual hardware that operates on the physical hardware, and achieving a server integration effect in accordance with the performance of the physical hardware. According to the present invention, before resources are added to the virtual hardware, the residual amount of the resources in the entire physical hardware and resources that will run short in the virtual hardware are predicted, so that a server configuration is changed in accordance with the prediction result, and resources that are actually running short in the virtual hardware are supplemented.

  • Publication number: 20110082950
Abstract: Under the environment where a storage system is virtualized by Thin Provisioning technology or the like, it is difficult to statically estimate the I/O characteristics of the entire virtual volume, causing a problem that the effect of input/output control by a computer cannot be fully achieved by I/O scheduling that is based on the characteristics of a virtual volume unit. To solve the above problem, the computer system of the present invention acquires characteristics information of a storage apparatus in which there exists an actual storage area corresponding to a virtual volume storage area that is the access target when accessing the virtual volume, divides an I/O request with respect to the virtual volume by storage apparatus in a case where the I/O request spans multiple storage apparatuses, carries out I/O scheduling based on the acquired actual area characteristics information, and issues the I/O request directly to the storage apparatus in accordance with the I/O scheduling result.

  • Patent number: 7836330
Abstract: Provided are a stream distribution system and a failure detection method capable of easily identifying the cause of quality loss in stream distribution. This stream distribution system includes a first server for communicating with a client terminal via a router and sending stream data, and a second server configured as a redundant server of the first server and connected to the first server. The first server has a communication status notification unit for sending a connection management table concerning the communication with the client terminal to the second server. The second server has a packet recording unit for acquiring a mirror packet, which is a copy of a packet sent to the first server, from the router, and a network failure monitoring unit for detecting a failure in a network between the first server and the client terminal based on the connection management table and a packet buffer.

  • Publication number: 20100106683
Abstract: A streaming server program delivers the content from an original content storage area in a storage apparatus, and a server computer monitors the content delivery status and creates, in a pool storage area, replicated data of the content that satisfies replicated content creation and deletion standards. Upon delivery of the replicated content, an attempt is made to resolve a delivery bottleneck by delivering data from both the original and pool storage areas. Burdens on the administrator are reduced according to the present invention by automatically detecting concentration of accesses or flash crowd and automatically replicating the whole or part of the content, thereby eliminating the need for prediction.

  • Publication number: 20090271526
Abstract: A proxy server 10 transfers, when a protocol header and content specified in a distribution request from a client 18 are not stored in a storage device 28, the distribution request to an origin server 12; stores the protocol header and content, which have been transmitted from the origin server 12, in the storage device 28; transmits the protocol header and content to the client 18; creates another protocol header based on the protocol header transmitted from the origin server 12; and stores the created protocol header in the storage device 28. When the protocol header and content specified in the distribution request from the client 18 have been stored in the storage device 28, the proxy server 10 extracts the protocol header and content from the storage device 28 and distributes them to the client 18.

  • Patent number: 7436796
Abstract: Contents delivery to a mobile node which changes its existence position is executed from a delivery node with a high quality. Each cache server is located between each wireless LAN in which the mobile node can exists and a wired network. Each cache server delivers contents from the delivery node to the mobile node while storing the contents into a buffer. When the mobile node has moved, the mobile node transmits a moving notice to a cache server which is connected to a wireless LAN of the moving destination. Having received the moving notice, the cache server acquires the content in the buffer from a cache server which the mobile node had utilized before the moving. This configuration allows retransmission of the contents to the mobile node, thereby resulting in an enhancement in the delivery quality.

  • Publication number: 20080222301
Abstract: Stream data is transmitted from a distribution server to a client without any loss of data. The capacity of a reception buffer to be prepared at the client can be made small and the network bandwidth necessary for data redistribution can be narrowed. A relay server interposed between the distribution server and client buffers stream data in an auxiliary storage device. When the relay server or client detects a loss of stream data, a redistribution request is transmitted to the distribution server or another relay server at the preceding stage.

  • Publication number: 20080215710
Abstract: According to the present invention, there are disclosed a contents distributing method and a system which permits distribution of contents held by the client to the other clients, irrespective of the operating status of the client, and allows certain billing. In this system, a plurality of storage servers storing contents held by the individual clients are arranged on a network. The client issues a contents distributing request to the corresponding storage server, and acquires the contents. The storage server inquires, when the requested contents are not held, the retrieving server, and collects the contents from the other servers holding the contents. The storage server sends a billing requests, together with the billing information, to the service use fee billing server and the contents use fee billing server.

  • Publication number: 20080155111
Abstract: A load on a delivery server can be reduced, irrespective of application protocol stack used by the delivery server. The delivery server (110) transfers in advance a file object as a data body of content data from private storage (120) to a public storage of a storage system (130) through a storage network (181). The delivery server (110) sends a data container including an application protocol header to a router (160) through an IP network (180). The router (160) couples the application protocol header with the file object acquired from the public storage, and sends the couple to the client terminal (170).
