  • Publication number: 20060190625
Abstract: A video encoding method, a video encoder, and a Personal Video Recorder (PVR) are disclosed. The PVR includes: a first video decoder for decoding an input MPEG-2 video signal, calculating reference picture information of the MPEG-2 video signal and a motion vector of a reference picture, and outputting the calculated result; a first video encoder for encoding the decoded MPEG-2 video signal into a H.264 video signal using the motion vector and the reference picture information generated from the first video decoder; and a storage unit for storing the H.264 video signal generated from the first video encoder. Therefore, the PVR can effectively transcode the MPEG-2 format image into the H.264 format image, can display a desired image or video signal without deterioration of an image quality, and can quickly transform a compression format of the image into another format.

  • Publication number: 20060113388
Abstract: An image printing method and apparatus which can detect the edge of a printing medium on which a barcode is written while reading the barcode using one sensor unit. The apparatus for printing an image on a printing medium on which a barcode is written includes a sensor unit sensing the barcode and generating a sensing signal. A first counting unit counts the sensing signal to generate a first count value when the value of the sensing signal is changed from a high value to a low value. A second counting unit counts the sensing signal of the barcode simultaneously with the first counting unit to generate a second count value which is initialized whenever the value of the sensing signal is changed. A detecting unit detects the edge of the printing medium based on the first and second count values of the first counting unit and the second counting unit. A reading unit reads the barcode based on the second count value of the second counting unit.

  • Publication number: 20060109338
Abstract: A method of driving a print head and an image forming apparatus employing the same are provided, wherein recording elements of the print head are divided into n groups and are driven to print an image on a medium, wherein recording elements from the respective n groups, that is, one recording element from each of the n groups, are simultaneously driven and a driving order of the recording elements is arranged such that printing positions of the recording elements in each group form a plurality of oblique lines as a medium is fed. Accordingly, the plurality of recording elements, which are divided into a plurality of phases, are non-sequentially driven and therefore, the power consumption due to the driving of the recording elements and degradation of print quality can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20050195902
Abstract: A video decoding system is provided. When a DDR SDRAM is used as an external memory, MBs are rearranged and then stored to minimize memory access operations for the MBs at the DDR SDRAM and unnecessary additional word read operations caused by a DDR characteristic. Accordingly, the video decoding system can efficiently perform a memory access operation on MBs for video display and frame decoding by the video decoder. Specifically, the decoding system can reduce the total video decoding time, thereby allowing a surplus memory use time for additional functions of a digital broadcasting receiver.

  • Publication number: 20050117513
Abstract: Provided is a flow generation method for Internet traffic measurement. In the flow generation method, dependency between packet collecting time and flow generating time is removed using a virtual timer and a flow generation completion processing interval is controlled to skip by a unit time in response to a user's request. Also, a fragmented packet processing method is selectively used at need and a FIN timeout is applied selectively to a timeout mechanism used in flow generation completion. Thereby, this invention can improve accuracy and efficiency of Internet traffic measurement.

  • Publication number: 20040113966
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for inspecting a home position of an ink-jet printer carriage by moving the carriage in a first direction away from the home position until the carriage is not moved for a first predetermined period of time and determining a current position of the carriage as a first position using a maximum moving distance of the carriage. The method and apparatus include moving the carriage in a second direction towards the home position until the carriage is not moved for a second predetermined period of time and determining a current position of the carriage as a second position. If a sum of the first position and the second position is same as the maximum moving distance of the carriage and a second currently-determined position is same as a second previously-determined position, a determination is made that an error does not exist in the home position.
