Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling a USB operation, whereby the USB operation can be controlled without unplugging a USB cable while maintaining a charge state from a host device. The USB apparatus includes a USB connector to which a USB cable connected to a host device is connected, and a switching unit to switch to one of a first operation mode, in which data communication with the host device is enabled, and a second operation mode, in which an operation depending on a user input is enabled and data communication with the host device is disabled, by controlling power lines and data lines of the USB cable via the USB connector, wherein power can be charged from the host device in both the first operation mode and the second operation mode. Accordingly, a user can switch a USB operation mode without unplugging the USB cable.

A first impurity layer may be formed adjacent to the first substrate by implanting first impurities into the epitaxial layer. A photodiode may be formed in the epitaxial layer on the chip area. A circuit element electrically connected to the photodiode may be formed on the epitaxial layer. A protective layer protecting the circuit element may be formed on the epitaxial layer. A second substrate may be attached onto the protective layer. The first substrate may be removed to expose the epitaxial layer. A color filter layer may be formed on the exposed epitaxial layer using the first impurity layer as an alignment key. A microlens may be formed over the color filter layer.

Abstract: A method and apparatus controls an MTP device to manage a media file transmitted by an MTP host. According to the method, when the number of files in a folder assigned by the MTP host is equal to or more than a predetermined number while storing a media file received from the MTP host, the MTP device generates a new folder and stores the corresponding media file in the new folder. Accordingly, the files within the predetermined number can be stored in one file. Since the number of files stored in one folder is limited, delay in processing media files due to the large number of files can be reduced.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for formatting a portable storage device, which are capable of performing formatting optimized for a non-volatile memory of the portable storage device. The method includes: detecting whether file system information is initialized when formatting of the non-volatile memory is started; if the initialization of the non-volatile memory is detected, detecting a cluster size and cluster start position of a storage space of the portable storage device; and if the detected cluster size and the cluster start position information do not match a size and a staring position of a minimum recording unit of the storage space, performing a re-formatting operation of the portable storage device.

Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for storing multimedia data in a nonvolatile storage device in units of blocks, in which the time required for storing the multimedia data in the nonvolatile storage device can be reduced. The method includes receiving the multimedia data, sequentially storing the received multimedia data in a block in which all pages are empty among blocks included in a nonvolatile memory, and searching in the nonvolatile memory for a fragmented block in which some pages are occupied by data and moving the pages of the fragmented block that are occupied by data to another block.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for inspecting a display. The apparatus includes a focus matching unit and an image control unit. A reference display receives a signal of a sample image during a first output period and displays a reference image according to the received signal. A target display receives the signal of the sample image during a second output period that does not overlap with the first output period and displays a test image according to the received signal. The focus matching unit may match display positions and sizes of the reference image and the test image. The image control unit may control the signal of the sample image stored in a predetermined memory to be output to the reference display during the first output period and controls the signal of the sample image to be output to the target display during the second output period.

Abstract: A method of determining a filename of a digital content file generated by a CE product in accordance with a PSFS standard and an apparatus for generating a digital content file are provided. The method of determining a filename of a digital content file includes generating a first character string identifying an apparatus for generating the digital content file, generating a second character string representing a storing order of the digital content file, and determining the filename of the digital content file based on the first and second character strings. Furthermore, the second character string of the digital content file is generated by increasing character code of the second character string of a last-stored digital content file by a predetermined value. Accordingly, it is possible to overcome the limitation on the maximum number of files stored in one directory of the conventional method.
