  • Patent number: 7825874
Abstract: An initialization and driving method for a plasma display panel. When the plasma display panel is turned on, a voltage at a first electrode is increased from a first voltage to a second voltage, and a voltage at a second electrode is reduced from a fourth voltage to the fifth voltage for the purpose of forming wall charges in cells while a third voltage is applied to the second electrode. A voltage is applied to the first electrode and the second electrode to establish a difference between the first electrode and the second electrode to be alternately a sixth voltage and a negative voltage of the sixth voltage, and therefore the cell is discharged.

  • Patent number: 7737921
Abstract: Disclosed are a driving device and a driving method for a plasma display panel (PDP). A panel capacitor is formed by a scan electrode and a sustain electrode. The charges are moved from the panel capacitor to a capacitor by turning on a transistor which is connected between the scan electrode and the capacitor. By this method, the voltage of the panel capacitor is steeply reduced so that a discharge is generated in the panel capacitor. When the voltage of the capacitor increases because of the charges moved from the panel capacitor, the gate-source voltage of the transistor is reduced. As a result, the transistor is turned off so that the scan electrode is floated. Accordingly, the discharge is steeply quenched so that the wall charges are precisely controlled. After the capacitor is discharged, the above-noted operation may be repeated.

  • Patent number: 7733304
Abstract: A plasma display includes a plurality of scan electrodes. A scan voltage is sequentially supplied to the plurality of scan electrodes, and a non-scan voltage that is higher than the scan voltage is supplied to scan electrodes to which the scan voltage is supplied. The non-scan voltage is generated by dividing a voltage that is higher than the non-scan voltage and the scan voltage. Thus, a voltage source for supplying the non-scan voltage can be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 7718523
Abstract: A solder attach film includes a first cover film, a flux layer, a solder layer, and a second cover film, and it can be treated or kept in a roll shape. A solder ball forming method using the solder attach film includes preparing a semiconductor package or a semiconductor die, adhering the solder attach film, gridding, and reflowing. In the solder attach film adhering operation, the first cover film and the second cover film are removed, and the flux layer is adhered to electrically conductive pads of the semiconductor package or the semiconductor die. Subsequently, in the reflowing operation, the flux layer is volatilized and removed, and the solder layer is fused and fixed to the electrically conductive pads, so that solder balls are formed.

  • Patent number: 7612740
Abstract: A plasma display device includes a plasma display panel having discharge cells formed between a plurality of first electrodes and a plurality of second electrodes and a driving circuit dividing one frame into a plurality of subfields, each subfield including a reset period, an address period, and a sustain period, and applying a driving voltage to the first electrodes and the second electrodes. During a sustain period of each subfield, a sustain discharge pulse is alternately applied to the first and second electrodes for triggering a sustain discharge. A width of a last sustain discharge pulse applied to the second electrode is set to be greater than a width of other sustain discharge pulses for selected subfields. The subfields may be selected based on whether a total number of the sustain discharge pulses during the sustain period is less than a critical number of sustain discharge pulses.

  • Patent number: 7609233
Abstract: A sustain or scan electrode driver for a plasma display device including a power recovery circuit, a voltage storage circuit, and a switching circuit. Power recovery is achieved by a coupling a power source at a minus sustain voltage to the sustain or scan electrode driver circuit that includes a capacitor and an inductor for creating resonance with the panel capacitor and recovering the power used in sustain discharge. Power loss of switches used in the driver circuit may be reduced and power recovery efficiency may be increased by using an additional capacitor in the driver circuit that maintains terminals of the switch at a predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 7580050
Abstract: In a driving method of a plasma display device, a final voltage of a falling ramp voltage is set to a discharge firing voltage of all the discharge cells after applying a gradually rising ramp voltage during a reset period. A difference in voltage applied to an address electrode and to a scan electrode is set to be greater than the maximum discharge firing voltage in turn-on discharge cells in an address period. A bias voltage applied in a rising reset period, an address period, and a sustain period of subfields that express low grayscales is increased, and the address electrode is biased with a positive voltage in the sustain period. With this configuration, the problem of worsening the margins by loss of wall charges is solved since addressing is not influenced by the wall charges and performance of expressing low grayscales is increased.
