    Abstract: A method for performing an encrypted voice call between a first terminal and a second terminal supporting a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)-based voice call. In the method, the first and second terminals generate and store a bio key using biographical (bio) information of a user in advance before performing a voice call, the first terminal sends a request for a voice call to the second terminal and establishing a session, the first and second terminals exchange and store a bio key stored in each terminal, and the first and second terminals generate a session shared key using the exchanged bio key and starting a Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP) session, and a restored bio key by acquiring bio information from received data. User authentication is then performed by comparing the bio key with the restored bio key.

The OLT's scheduler performs scheduling upon receiving multiple-queue request information contained in the REPORT message from the ONU, and transmits a combined scheduling result associated with one ONU using a GATE message. An ONU's scheduler performs scheduling upon receiving a bandwidth allocated by the OLT, and allocates a transfer bandwidth to its own queues.

    Abstract: A Gigabit Ethernet passive optical network (GE-PON) having a double link structure is disclosed. The GE-PON includes an optical line terminal (OLT), a plurality of optical couplers, and a plurality of optical network units (ONUs). The OLT sets up an active link and a standby link in response to a registration request message received over an optical cable. Each of the ONUs is doubly connected with the OLT via the optical cable and is adapted to transmit the registration request message to the OLT, form the active link with the OLT via the optical cable if it receives an active registration message transmitted from the OLT in response to the registration request message, and form the standby link with the OLT via the optical cable if it receives a standby message from the OLT. The optical couplers are disposed between the OLT and each of the ONUs to doubly interconnect them via different optical cables.

    Abstract: MAC (Media Access Control) for an EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network system) defined in an IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.3ah EFM (Ethernet in the First Mile) standard is implemented using general MAC based on an IEEE 802.3 standard. LLID (Logical Link ID) information is inserted at a predetermined position of a frame outside its preamble and the frame containing the LLID information is transferred to a higher layer so that general MAC can be used as MAC for the EPON system. A physical layer of the EPON system contains LLID information within a preamble and transfers the preamble containing the LLID information. An RS (Reconciliation Sublayer) configures a new Ethernet frame by inserting the LLID information at a predetermined position of the Ethernet frame outside the preamble. The RS transfers the new Ethernet frame to a higher data link layer of the EPON system. The data link layer transfers the new Ethernet frame containing the LLID information.

    Abstract: An EPON for providing a subscriber with a high speed/high capacity data service and a real time digital broadcasting/image service includes an OLT for switching digital broadcasting/image data according to broadcasting/image selection information from each ONT, modulating the switched data into frequencies assigned to each ONT, coupling a broadcasting/image signal with a communication signal, and transmitting the coupled signal. The digital broadcasting/image data is transmitted from an outside broadcaster, the broadcasting/image signal is a combination of the modulated signals, and the communication signal is obtained by optically modulating communication data from an IP network. Further included in the EPON are multiple ONTs, and a divider for dividing the signal from the OLT for routing to each of the multiple ONTs, combining signals from the multiple ONTs, and transmitting the combined signal to the OLT.
