  • Publication number: 20050078238
Abstract: A reflective color liquid crystal display device with a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between a first substrate having a light reflectibility and a second substrate having a light transmissibility. The liquid crystal layer being composed of twist-aligned nematic liquid crystal having a positive dielectric anisotropy. A circularly polarizing unit, including a single linear polarizer plate, selectively passes either right handed or left handed circularly polarized light out of natural light. The circularly polarizing unit is disposed so that a major surface of the circularly polarizing unit is on a liquid crystal layer side, the circularly polarized light exiting the circularly polarizing unit through the major surface when natural light enters the circularly polarizing unit. Various parameters of the liquid crystal layer are optimized for a liquid crystal layer having a twist angle in the range of 0° to 100°.

  • Publication number: 20040123663
Abstract: An acceleration sensor in which a regulation plate is fixed with adhesive onto a support frame of a sensor chip of the sensor to limit the movement of a mass portion of the sensor chip within a predetermined gap range. In the acceleration sensor, the adhesion area of the adhesive can be controlled to a predetermined value to prevent a variation of the sensitivity due to the variation of the adhesion area. The sensor chip comprises the mass portion, the frame surrounding the mass portion and having on an upper surface of the frame a plurality of the recesses to fill adhesive into, elastic support arms bridging the mass portion and the frame, and strain gauges formed on the elastic support arms. The regulation plate is fixed with paste onto the frame with the predetermined gap with an upper surface of the mass portion. • Publication number: 20020176352
Abstract: A clamp mechanism comprises a turntable, a plurality of chuck claws, and a driving element. The turntable is rotatably driven by a motor. A disc serving as a recording medium is placed on the turntable. The chuck claws are used to hold, that is, clamp the disc on the turntable. The driving element drives the chuck claws both in both a first direction determined to clamp the disc and a second direction determined to unclamp the disc. The driving element includes a pressing portion so that travel of the chuck claws in the first direction in cases where the chuck claws are driven in the second direction. This offers stable clamping and unclamping operations of the chuck claws to detachably hold the disc on the turntable, independently of which attitude the disc takes.

  • Patent number: 5911008
Abstract: A scheme for detecting shot boundaries in the compressed video data at high speed and high accuracy. In this shot boundary detection scheme, a Predictive-picture (P picture) change is calculated from a P picture sequence in the input video data which is compressed by an inter-frame/inter-field forward direction prediction coding scheme, according to coded data contained in the P picture sequence, while an Intra-picture (I picture) change is calculated from an I picture sequence in the input video data which is compressed by an intra-frame/intra-field coding scheme, according to coded data contained in the I picture sequence. Then, a shot boundary is detected by evaluating both the P picture change and the I picture change.
