  • Patent number: 5444206
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a welded metal container by first arc welding a branch pipe to a trunk pipe. The arc welding of the pipes together causes both of the pipes to be thermally deformed. The end surfaces of the pipes are then cut by a laser cutting or mechanical cutting process so that the ends of the trunk pipe are in parallel and perpendicular to the end of the branch pipe. Subsequently flanges are laser welded to the ends of the pipes without further thermally deforming the pipes. The metal container made by this process can be used as a sheath for a gas insulated switch gear.

  • Patent number: 5265072
Abstract: In a disk storage having a front loading structure, a disk tray can smoothly move between a first position and a second position. The disk tray has a tray panel with a surface corresponding to an opening of a storage body. Since the surface is larger than the opening, this disk storage has a dustproof function superior to the conventional one. In addition, since an elastic member is provided generally around the opening, the tray panel will not get damaged even when the tray panel encloses the opening. The storage body may comprise cooling means for preventing the rising of the internal temperature thereof, so that malfunctioning of the parts can be prevented and the life of each part can be extended. The elastic member may comprise a sponge.

  • Patent number: 4947262
Abstract: A hand-held manually sweeping printing apparatus includes a manually manipulatable housing. A data input section, a memory, a printer head, a roll of ink ribbon, and an encoder are mounted within the housing. When a user holds the microcopier and sweeps it across a piece of paper, the printer head can print image data on the paper. Since the printer head is movable in response to various conditions caused by the pressure applied to the piece of paper, or surface conditions of the paper, a high-quality printing is realized. The data input section may be replaced by an image sensor, in which case the information on an original can be read and reproduced on the piece of paper.

  • Patent number: 4764729
Abstract: An electromagnetic valve used in controlling the amount of supplementary air supplied to an internal combustion engine to control the idling operation thereof is controlled by a current controller. The actual value of current flowing through the electromagnetic valve is compared with a predetermined value when a control signal, which is applied to the controller to regulate the opening of the electromagnetic valve, and the actual value of the current do not exhibit a predetermined correlation. It is determined whether an abnormality in the current controller is a disconnection or a short circuit based on whether the actual value of the current is greater than the predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4647305
Abstract: A process for manufacturing amorphous alloy powders is provided, wherein, a high-speed fluid jet is blown against a flowing melt of an alloy which can be formed into amorphous powders, thereby powerizing the melt and rapidly cooling and solidifying the melt. Use is made of an action tube in which pressure is reduced and turbulent flow is caused so as to increase the cooling rate of the powderized alloy and to form particles of irregular shape. Further, the powderized alloy particles are forced to forcibly collide against a block to increase the cooling rate of the alloy and to form particles of irregular shape.

  • Patent number: 4424588
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of detecting the position of a symmetrical article by converting image signals of the article into binary information and detecting the position of the article based on the binary information. A first median point is determined, from the binary information, that is between two points of intersection between a first straight line intersecting the article and the sides of the article. A second median point is determined, from the binary information, that is between two points of intersection between a second straight line passing through the first median point, crossing the first straight line at right angles and crossing the sides of the article.
