In particular, the invention is concerned with new piperidine 4-alkenyl derivatives that possess unique antiviral activity. More particularly, the present invention relates to compounds useful for the treatment of HIV and AIDS.

Abstract: An electronic device includes an integrated circuit, a power interface, and an interface circuit connected between the integrated circuit and the power interface for protecting the integrated circuit from being damaged by electrostatic discharge. The interface circuit includes a current limit unit connected between the power interface and the integrated circuit for limiting an electrostatic discharge current and an electrostatic protection unit connected to a common node of the power interface and the current limit unit for clamping a voltage of the common node to a predetermined value. A related integrated circuit is also provided.

Abstract: The invention provides electromagnetic wave absorption components and device. The electromagnetic wave absorption component includes an electromagnetic shield constituted by at least one material selected from the group consisting of a carbon nanocoil and a carbon fiber, and a solidified layer formed of a mixture of a solidifiable material and the electromagnetic shield after solidification. Another embodiment of the electromagnetic wave absorption component includes an electromagnetic shield constituted by at least one material selected from the group consisting of a carbon nanocoil and a carbon fiber, and a solidified layer, formed by solidifying a solidifiable material, applicable to encapsulating the electromagnetic shield. Further, the electromagnetic wave absorption device is formed by stacking at least two of the above-mentioned electromagnetic wave absorption components.

Abstract: Materials for making apparatus and a method of inhibiting polymerization during manufacture, purification, handling and storage of subject ethylenically unsaturated monomers are disclosed. In particular, copper or metals containing copper, in the presence of oxygen, have inhibit undesired polymerization resulting in polymer fouling in apparatus used during the manufacture, purification, handling and storage of the monomers, such as acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylic acid esters and methacrylic acid esters. The copper or copper alloys as described herein, in the presence of an oxygen-containing gas, exhibit self-inhibiting surface characteristics when used to make at least a portion of the apparatus to inhibit polymerization of the monomers in contact with the portion of the apparatus including such copper-containing metal.

Abstract: A layered composition which can be used in various processes has been developed. The composition comprises an inner core such as a cordierite core and an outer layer comprising a refractory inorganic oxide, a fibrous component and an inorganic binder. The refractory inorganic oxide layer can be alumina, zirconia, titania, etc. while the fibrous component can be titania fibers, silica fibers, carbon fibers, etc. The inorganic oxide binder can be alumina, silica, zirconia, etc. The layer can also contain catalytic metals such as gold and platinum plus other modifiers. The layered composition is prepared by coating the inner core with a slurry comprising the refractory inorganic oxide, fibrous component, an inorganic binder precursor and an organic binding agent such as polyvinyl alcohol. The composition can be used in various hydrocarbon conversion processes including production of vinyl acetate.

Abstract: A method for installing and operating a Coriolis mass flowmeter operating having a measuring tube, wherein the measuring tube is excited to vibrate, a phase shift of the vibration of the measuring tube which is dependent on the mass flow of the measuring tube or a corresponding time difference is determined, the temperature of the measuring tube is determined and the corresponding mass flow is calculated using the determined time difference and the determined temperature by means of a computation rule. Highly accurate measurements are possible in that in the computation rule, at least one known theoretical or empirical material temperature dependence influencing the mass flow is taken into account by determining a device-specific temperature dependence of the mass flowmeter influencing the mass flow through a subsequent calibration process and the known theoretical or empirical material temperature dependence and the device-specific temperature dependence are used in determining the mass flow.

Abstract: A method and system for converting source tables of a database of the application to target tables of a new version of the database while reducing the amount of time that the database needs to be open in single-user access mode is provided. A conversion system divides the conversion into a multi-user phase and a single-user phase. During the multi-user phase, the conversion system can perform most of the conversions while the database is opened in multi-user access mode. The conversion system stores the converted data in auxiliary tables, rather than updating the source tables. During the single-user phase, the conversion system performs the remaining conversions and copies data from the source tables and the converted data from the auxiliary tables to the target tables.
