    Abstract: A flight control system for an aircraft having a multi-functional flight control surface. The aircraft has at least one multi-functional flight control surface formed by a sequence of flaps. The shape of each multi-functional flight control surface may be configured by a flight control to simultaneously adjust a trajectory of the aircraft in two or more of a pitch direction, a roll direction, and a yaw direction. The flight control for operating said the multi-functional flight control surface responds to both pilot commands and machine-generated commands. The machine-generated commands configure the shape of the surface of each multi-functional flight control surface in real-time based, at least in part, upon a set of flight objectives comprising: (a) minimizing drag of the aircraft, (b) aeroelastic modal suppression for the aircraft, and (c) maneuver load alleviation in the aircraft.

    Abstract: A prosthesis for placement within a native mitral valve includes an expandable frame having locking tabs disposed along a proximal end. A plurality of distal anchors are disposed along a distal end of the frame. Each distal anchor is provided with a cushion cover. An outer fabric member surrounds the frame and may extend outwardly from the frame in an expanded condition for providing an improved seal in the region of a mitral annulus. A valve body is positioned within an interior of the expandable from for allowing blood flow in only one direction. In preferred embodiments, the cushions are positioned over enlarged head portions of the distal anchors for further reducing trauma on surrounding tissue.

In response to determining that the touch input does not correspond to the portion of the display displaying the content of the transparent overlay, the client application removes the transparent overlay from the display to allow touch inputs to go to the lock screen and enables a security feature to allow unlocking of the mobile communication device based on user input.

A single continuous puller wire for bidirectional deflection is pre-bent into two long portions and a U-shape bend therebetween. The U-shape bend is anchored at a distal end of a deflectable section which is reinforced by at least one washer having at least two holes, each hole axially aligned with a respective lumen in the deflectable section. Each hole is centered with a lumen so that each puller wire portion therethrough is straight and subjected to tensile force only. A proximal end of the support member is flattened and serrated to provide a better bonding to the distal end of the deflectable section.

    Abstract: A device for generation of genuine random numbers, uses quantum stochastic processes in optical parametric nonlinear media. The dimensionality of the random numbers is varied from 2 to over 100,000. Their statistical properties, including the correlation function amongst random numbers, are tailored using linear and nonlinear optical circuits following the parametric nonlinear media. Both the generation and manipulation of random numbers can be integrated on a single nanophotonics chip. By incorporating optoelectric effects, fast streams of random numbers can be created in custom statistical properties, which can be updated or reconfigured in real time, such as at 10 GHz speed. The unpredictability of the random numbers is quantifying by evaluating their min-entropy. The genuineness of quantum random numbers is tested using both statistical tools and independently verified by measuring the quantum entanglement between the photons in real time reducing vulnerability to hostile attack.
