  • Publication number: 20220150009
Abstract: Various schemes pertaining to distributed-tone resource unit (RU) operation in 6 GHz low-power indoor (LPI) systems are described. A communication entity distributes frequency tones of a resource unit (RU) over a distribution bandwidth as a distributed-tone RU (dRU). The communication entity then communicates using the distributed-tone RU in a 6 GHz low-power indoor (LPI) system. In some cases, the dRU is distributed over an entire bandwidth. Alternatively, the dRU operation is implemented per frequency segment. Alternatively, the dRU co-exists with regular or localized RU.

  • Publication number: 20220150015
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide duplication schemes for control frames to extend the range of LPI in the 6 GHz wireless band for EHT WLAN. Duplicate 20 MHz legacy preambles containing L-STF, L-LTF, L-SIG and RL-SIG, U-SIG and EHT-SIG fields may be used to transmit beacon and other control frames using duplicate PPDUs to extend transmission range thereof. Non-HT duplication can be performed to maintain backwards compatibility with legacy devices. HE duplication can include duplication of a 20 MHz HE SU PPDUs over 40 MHz, 80 MHz, 160 MHz or 320 MHz portions, for example. DCM+MCS0 or duplication over DCM+MCS0 may be applied to the payload, and a duplication indication is inserted in the U-SIG field or EHT-SIG field to indicate if the duplication is applied to the payload over DCM+MCS0.

  • Publication number: 20220140988
Abstract: Various schemes pertaining to subcarrier indices for distributed-tone resource units (RUs) in 6 GHz low-power indoor (LPI) systems are described. A communication entity distributes frequency tones of a RU over a distribution bandwidth as a distributed-tone RU (dRU). The communication entity also generates generating a plurality of subcarrier indices for the distributed-tone RU such that a distribution of the distributed-tone RU is symmetric or asymmetric to a direct-current (DC) tone along an axis of subcarrier indices. The communication entity then communicates wirelessly using the distributed-tone RU in a 6 GHz LPI system.

  • Publication number: 20220132367
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and apparatus for enhanced data retransmission based on log-likelihood ratio (LLR) combining in WLAN. According to some embodiments, packets can be retransmitted using a modified transmission scheme. Codewords are associated with cyclic redundancy checks (CRCs) for detecting errors, and a subsequent packet is received that includes data that can be used to correct the error. For example, each packet can be encoded for both error detection and correction, and the retransmission mechanism can be adapted to the error rate. The retransmission scheme is improved by utilizing an LLR combining scheme, transmit diversity, and modified ACK methods.

  • Publication number: 20220132351
Abstract: Various examples pertaining to efficient trigger-based (TB) multi-user (MU) uplink (UL) transmissions in wireless local area networks (WLANs) are described. A stations (STA) receives a trigger frame from an access point (AP), with the trigger frame assigning one or more resource units (RUs) corresponding to one or more subchannels of a plurality of subchannels. The STA then performs a transmission using the assigned one or more RUs responsive to receiving the trigger frame. In an event that at least one subchannel of the plurality of subchannels is detected as being busy, the one or more subchannels may include a subset (e.g., some but not all) of the plurality of subchannels.

  • Publication number: 20220116136
Abstract: A method of joint encoding schemes with interleaver and tone mapper for multiple-resource unit (multi-RU) operation involves performing joint encoding of a plurality of information bits to generate a plurality of encoded bit sequences. The method also involves processing the plurality of encoded bit sequences by interleaving and tone mapping the encoded bit sequences with respect to a plurality of resource units (RUs) on either or both of an aggregate-RU basis and an individual-RU basis to generate a plurality of processed bit sequences. The method further involves transmitting the plurality of processed bit sequences over the plurality of RUs.

  • Publication number: 20220116885
Abstract: Various schemes pertaining to encoding and transmit power control for downsized trigger-based (TB) physical-layer protocol data unit (PPDU) transmissions in next-generation WLAN systems are described. A station (STA) receives a trigger frame indicating an allocated resource unit (RU) of a first size. The STA performs channel sensing responsive to receiving the trigger frame. In response to detecting at least one subchannel being busy from the channel sensing, the STA performs a downsized trigger-based (TB) transmission with a downsized RU or multi-RU (MRU) of a second size smaller than the first size by utilizing downsized RU or MRU allocation information while maintaining a value of each of one or more parameters unchanged in an encoding process to perform the downsized TB transmission.

  • Patent number: 11265048
Abstract: Systems and methods of transmitting a PPDU to or from a single user station (STA) in an MIMO transmission by using unequal MCSs. An access point (AP) allocates a plurality of spatial streams to the STA and assigned them into groups for the MIMO transmission. Multiple unequal MCSs are assigned to the different spatial stream groups. Correspondingly the STA ID is repeatedly specified in the user block fields of a SIG-B field of a downlink PPDU, or in the user information fields of a trigger frame. Alternatively, multiple AIDs of the STA can be specified in the user block fields or the user information fields instead of repeating the same STA ID. An indication may be inserted in the SIG-A field to indicate that the grouped-based unequal MCSs scheme is used for the MIMO transmission.

  • Publication number: 20220014406
Abstract: Dual carrier modulation (DCM) encoded data is generated in a first half of a full signal bandwidth. The DCM encoded data generated in the first half of the full signal bandwidth is duplicated in a second half of the full signal bandwidth.
