  • Patent number: 10215157
Abstract: A method is provided for operation of a wind turbine having rotor blades attached to a hub, wherein a controller compensates for torsionally induced blade twist. The method includes operating the wind turbine according to a rated power output curve and maximum design thrust value, and periodically or continuously detecting for induced torsional twist in the rotor blades. Upon determination of torsional twist being induced in the rotor blades, the method includes adjusting the maximum thrust value in the control program to compensate for the induced twist. The wind turbine controller then controls pitch of the rotor blades as a function of the increased maximum thrust value so that power output of the wind turbine is not unnecessarily limited or increased by the induced twist on the rotor blades.

  • Publication number: 20190011839
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for characterizing a mask for microlithography. In a method according to the invention, structures of a mask intended for use in a lithography process in a microlithographic projection exposure apparatus are illuminated by an illumination optical unit, wherein the mask is imaged onto a detector unit by an imaging optical unit, wherein image data recorded by the detector unit are evaluated in an evaluation unit. In this case, for emulating an illumination setting predefined for the lithography process in the microlithographic projection exposure apparatus, the imaging of the mask onto the detector unit is carried out in a plurality of individual imagings which differ from one another with regard to the illumination setting set in the illumination optical unit or the polarization-influencing effect set in the imaging optical unit.

  • Patent number: 10168539
Abstract: An illumination optical unit serves for illuminating objects to be examined by a metrology system. The illumination optical unit has an optical pupil shaping assembly for generating a defined distribution of illumination angles of illumination light over an object field in which an object to be examined can be arranged. An optical field shaping assembly for generating a defined intensity distribution of the illumination light over the object field is disposed downstream of the pupil shaping assembly in the beam path of the illumination light. The field shaping assembly has at least one optical field shaping element arranged in the region of a pupil plane of the illumination optical unit. This results in an illumination optical unit which ensures an illumination which can be set in a defined manner with regard to an intensity distribution and an illumination angle distribution over the entire object field.

  • Publication number: 20170286232
Abstract: Trimming unused blocks from a versioned image backup of a source storage that is stored in a sparse storage. In one example embodiment, a method may include identifying a versioned image backup that is stored in a sparse storage. The sparse may store first and second versions of the versioned image backup representing states of the source storage at successive first and second points in time, respectively. The method may further include deleting the first version, identifying a first set of blocks that were allocated in the source storage at the second point in time, identifying a second set of blocks that are allocated in the sparse storage for the second version, determining a third set of blocks that are included in the second set of blocks but are not included in the first set of blocks, and trimming the third set of blocks from the second version.

  • Publication number: 20170224252
Abstract: A system and related devices for continuous and real-time monitoring and detection of head impact and corresponding trauma. The system may include a passive sensor mounted to a subject's tooth using dental hardware or adhesive so as to harness the firm coupling between the subject's tooth and cranium. With such firm coupling established, the impact data measured by the tooth-mounted sensor can be manipulated, through the use of a transfer function, by external processors to determine and communicate the impact experienced by the subject's head. The system is configured for use with an external power source whereby the passive tooth-mounted sensor is activated by means of a wireless transfer circuit such as an inductive power transfer circuit or an ultrasound power transfer circuit. The wireless activation of the powerless interior sensor system provides compatibility with multiple external power configurations, thereby enabling efficacious and continuous monitoring of the subject.

  • Patent number: 9708036
Abstract: To make secondary anchoring of small boats quick, safe, versatile, a low cost buoyant apparatus with an attached tripping strap has been invented to permit transport of a secondary anchor to its holding location. The invention, in addition serves to prevent excessive boat swings once anchored in restricted anchorage, and can also serve as a marker in the event that an earlier anchored boat needs to move and return to the same spot. This buoyant apparatus is very versatile; it can be used from the boat's bow, from the stern, and also as a lunch hook. Although the buoyant ring has an appearance of a life preserver, it is not intended for that use, and does not qualify as U.S. Coast Guard or Sheriff Regulation safety equipment.
