    Abstract: The present invention teaches a variety of methods and systems for providing computer/human interfaces. According to one method, the user interfaces with an electronic device such as a computer system by engaging a sensor with desired regions of an encoded physical medium. The encoded physical medium is preferably chosen to provide intuitive meaning to the user, and is thus an improved metaphor for interfacing with the computer system. Suitable examples of the encoded physical medium include a data-linked book magazine, globe, or article of clothing. Some or all of the selected regions have had certain information encoded therein, information suitable for interfacing and controlling the computer system. When the user engages the sensor with a region having a certain encoded information, the certain encoded information is interpreted and an appropriate action taken. For example, the sensor or the computer system may provide suitable feedback to the user.

    Abstract: Compositions that are a chemical combination of porphyrins, chlorins, bacteriochlorins, and related tetra-pyrrolic compounds with radioactive elements such as Technetium99, Gadolinium, Indium111 and radioactive iodine. When the element can form cations, the compound is usually a chelate with the porphyrin or chlorin structure. When the element forms anions, the compound is usually a direct chemical combination of the radioactive element into the porphyrin or chlorin structure. The invention further includes the method of using the compounds of the invention for diagnostic imaging of hyperproliferative tissue such as tumors and new blood vessel growth as is associated with the wet form of age related macular degeneration and methods of making the compounds.

    Abstract: A radial piston engine is disclosed wherein power is transferred such that the power take-off is truly balanced, where the piston runs truly parallel to the cylinder walls. This concept reduces wear of the cylinders and piston rings. The engine provides improved gas mileage due to the reduced piston drag. One unique feature is the power take-off from the piston to the flywheels. The design takes power from inside the cylinder compartment, through four transfer arms, to cams that in turn transfer the power to two flywheels. By firing complimentary cylinders 180 degrees at the same time, almost no vibration is noticed. Also, since the cylinders can fire many times per flywheel rotation, the torque which this engine produces is greater other designs. Any number of cylinders is possible. Single cylinders and two cylinder designs with chain power take-offs are also possible for lawnmowers and motorcycles.

    Abstract: A novel method for treating undesired hyperproliferative tissue in a mammal. The method includes the steps of: injecting the mammal with a photodynamic compound having a selective uptake in the hyperproliferative tissue and which is activated at a particular light frequency; injecting the mammal with a xanthenone-4-acetic acid or a Group I metal, Group II metal or quaternary salt thereof near the time of maximum uptake of the photodynamic compound in the hyperproliferative tissue; and exposing the hyperproliferative tissue to light at the particular frequency that activates the photodynamic compound. The method of the invention causes necrosis of the hyperproliferative tissue to an extent greater than can be obtained by either the photodynamic compound or xanthenone-4-acetic acid alone. Further and surprisingly the method enhances immune response of the mammal to the hyperproliferative tissue even after the photodynamic compound and xanthenone-4-acetic acid are no longer present in the mammal.

The system also includes a charge maintenance device coupling the first battery to the second battery to maintain the charge level of the first battery to a predefined magnitude in response to a control signal. The system also includes a controller coupled to both the first battery and the second battery to monitor the first voltage level and the second voltage level, and operating the charging switch and the charge maintenance device in response to the first voltage level and the second voltage level.

    Abstract: A battery system includes a battery with a pair of terminals extending from one side of the battery case, and a tray-like battery holder. The terminals have hollow sockets inserted therein which are engaged by posts extending from conductive plugs that extend through an end wall of the holder. A threaded connection is formed in the plug and opens to the outside of the holder. Alignment posts are formed in the holder to be disposed within cylindrical wells in the bottom of the battery case and ensure proper alignment of the battery in the holder. A hinged latch is formed in the holder and engages a projection on the battery case. When in place in the holder, the battery case rests on resilient pads located on a floor of the holder.

One specific embodiment of the present invention is a bead interactor system that is a user playable sound and light show system. When an interactor bead is positioned within the detection space of the bead interactor system, a sound sequence begins and continues to play unaltered until the bead interactor is removed or other bead interactors are positioned within or removed from the detection space.
