  • Publication number: 20210036955
Abstract: In a 5G network, an adaptation layer of a child integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node can send a quality metric to its parent IAB node. The quality metric can indicate to the parent IAB node, information that may not be readily available to the parent IAB node. Such a quality metric can be transmitted by the child IAB node to the parent IAB node via a header field of an adaptation layer packet data unit (PDU) on an uplink channel of an IAB link. Thus, the parent IAB node can make a more efficient routing decision based on data, to which otherwise, the parent IAB node may not ordinarily be privy.

  • Publication number: 20210029533
Abstract: In a 5G network, control unit (CU) can be connected to a radio access network controller (RC). In response to receiving measurement data from the CU, the RC can process the measurement data to determine polices and procedures related to radio resource management, and/or radio resource control, which can then be utilized to manage mobility, dual-connectivity, carrier aggregation, and/or integrated access and backhaul topology formation and routing. The measurement data provided by the CU can be provided directly to the RC without processing of the measurement data by the CU.

  • Publication number: 20210029765
Abstract: The same or similar physical signals can be used for both user equipment (UE) and an integrate access backhaul (IAB) node. Different configurations of the resources and/or transmission periods of the signals can be used for initial access for access UEs and IAB nodes. In addition, to support topology formation, mobility/multi-connectivity procedures, and backhaul link management, periodic measurements and reports can be configured by a parent IAB node to a child IAB node UE function. This can comprise radio resource management (RRM), radio link monitoring (RLM), and beam management (L1-BM) measurements and reports.

  • Publication number: 20210022150
Abstract: Systems and methods for computing channel state information in a 5G wireless communication system in 4G spectrum frequencies is described herein. A method as described herein includes determining, by network equipment comprising a processor, that a cell in which the network equipment operates is configured for coexistence between new radio signals and long term evolution signals based on a starting symbol location for non-user equipment specific control signaling received from the cell relative to a frame boundary; predicting, by the network equipment in response to the determining that the cell is configured for the coexistence, long term evolution resource overhead data associated with the long term evolution signals; and determining, by the network equipment, channel state information reference resources at least in part by removing the long term evolution resource overhead data from channel state information computation data.

  • Publication number: 20210014816
Abstract: An integrated access and backhaul network is provided with network nodes that can establish timing synchronization with any other network nodes. In an embodiment, network nodes in a multi-hop integrated access and backhaul network have a hop order of n, wherein n represents a number of hops from a node connected to the core network via a wired connection. In an embodiment, instead of using the network node with a hop order of 0 as the timing synchronization reference for over-the-air synchronization, any network node can use any other network node as a synchronization reference. A relay node can first establish a wireless link to said arbitrary node. Said wireless link is then used to synchronize the relay or IAB node using a Precision Time Protocol (PTP) implementation.

  • Publication number: 20210014918
Abstract: The same or similar physical signals can be used for both user equipment (UE) and an integrated access backhaul (IAB) node. Different configurations of resources and/or transmission periods of the signals can be used for initial access for access UEs and IAB nodes. In addition, since the UE functionality for IAB nodes is not fully identical with access UEs, the network can identify which UEs performing initial access are normal access UEs or are IAB nodes with UE functionality. Furthermore, the parameters for configuring radio resource management operation at the IAB node gNode B function can consider a half-duplex constraint imposed by the UE function and can also analyze hop order and other topology/route management functionalities.

  • Patent number: 10887056
Abstract: The disclosed subject matter is directed towards highly reliable Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) retransmission procedures, including to provide different levels of reliability for Sidelink transmissions. A scheduler node schedule a data transmission by a transmitter node, and can receive (and store) the data packet transmission. If the scheduler node receives a negative acknowledgement (NAK) from the receiver node, the scheduler node can allocate resources to the transmitter node to perform a retransmission of the data packet, and/or retransmit a copy of the data packet from the scheduler node to the receiver node. The scheduler node can inform the receiver node that a retransmission is being sent by the transmitter node and the scheduler node.

  • Patent number: 10873953
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards providing a more accurate channel state information (CSI) based on obtaining information at a user equipment as to whether multiple access technologies (e.g., new radio (NR) and long term evolution (LTE)) are multiplexed on the same carrier or not, e.g., whether LTE-NR coexistence is in use. If so, the user equipment removes LTE resource overhead data and NR overhead data when computing the CSI report. If not, the user equipment removes NR overhead data when computing the CSI report. Also described is generating the CSI report based on mutual information or capacity approaches.

  • Publication number: 20200374839
Abstract: Access and user association can be enabled for private and hybrid public/private 5G new radio (NR) networks. More specifically, this disclosure discloses how to perform initial access, user authentication and association, Internet protocol (IP) address assignment for routing, and/or mobility management. The aforementioned process can facilitate the user equipment (UE) to engage in peer-to-peer, local breakout, and private/public network communication, via a local manager (LM) access point, without requiring connectivity to a public radio access network (RAN) or core network.

  • Publication number: 20200374263
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards using a local manager that serves a local radio access network (RAN) to provide one or more local breakout services between user equipments in the RAN, e.g., in 5G NR based networks. A local manager (e.g., a promoted UE) manages allocated resources for sidelink communication between two or more other UEs, by which the local manager can provide local breakout services either directly by serving as a router (and possibly an application server), or as an intermediate node by providing access to a locally hosted private network. In this way, private services can be provided to closed local RAN deployments. The local manager or private network can allocate IP addresses, and can host local virtual application server(s) as part of providing the local breakout services.
