  • Publication number: 20150093258
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle includes a hybrid module, a transmission and a torque converter. The lubrication system associated with the torque converter includes an oil sump within the torque converter housing which is intended to be managed as a “dry” sump oil lubrication system. There is an oil pump in communication with the sump in order to manage the sump oil level. By monitoring an operational parameter of the oil pump motor (pressure, torque, or current) oil aeration can be detected.

  • Patent number: 8937474
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a magnetometer in which direction of the Earth's magnetic field is determined on the basis of time variant differences in the inductance of a sensor coil of the digital compass which is a function of the orientation of the sensor coil with respect to the Earth's magnetic field. The magnetometer includes a sensing coil, a feedback resistor, and a comparator.

  • Patent number: 8870962
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate to an apparatus and method for reverse shoulder arthroplasty (e.g., reverse total shoulder arthroplasty). In one specific example, a glenoid component used to resurface the scapula may be provided. Of note, unlike traditional total shoulder arthroplasty the glenoid component in a reverse shoulder is convex rather than concave; it acts as a physical stop to prevent the superior migration of the humeral head—a typical occurrence in patients suffering from rotator cuff tear arthropathy (CTA).

  • Publication number: 20130285603
Abstract: A wireless charging system includes a primary inductive coil configured to transfer electromagnetic energy to a secondary inductive coil of a portable electronic device. The wireless charging system also includes a coil driver electrically coupled to the primary inductive coil and configured to adjust an output signal of the primary inductive coil. The wireless charging system further includes a receiver configured to receive an input signal from the portable electronic device, and a controller communicatively coupled to the receiver and to the coil driver. The controller is configured to establish a wireless charging protocol based on the input signal, and to automatically regulate the output signal based on the established wireless charging protocol and the input signal.

  • Publication number: 20130270946
Abstract: There is provided a magnetic bearing drive circuit driven from a pair of Direct Current (DC) link voltage rails, said magnetic bearing drive circuit having at least one amplifier providing an output PWM drive signal for driving a magnetic bearing winding, said output PWM drive signal being provided to the magnetic bearing winding through a plurality of drive signal rails, said magnetic bearing drive circuit comprising a pair of voltage offset devices coupled to the DC link voltage rails and arranged to provide a pair of offset catcher voltage rails from the DC link voltage rails, and primary clamping means coupled between each off-set catcher voltage rail and a respective one of the drive signal rails.

  • Patent number: 8550465
Abstract: A multifunction target actuator allows a bullet target to be selectively presented to a shooter such that a first side may be presented, a second side opposite the first side may be presented, and the target may be oriented so as not to be presented to the shooter. The actuator allows for quick and accurate movement of the target.

  • Publication number: 20130158638
Abstract: In one embodiment, an implantable stimulation lead for delivering electrical stimulation to tissue of a patient, the implantable stimulation lead comprises: a lead body comprising a plurality of wires strands that form a solid helical hollow tube that is maintained by mutual contact pressure of neighboring wire strands, wherein the plurality of wire strands comprise an outer coating of non-conductive material to electrically isolate each of the plurality of wire strands from each other; and a plurality of electrodes with each electrode being electrically coupled to one of the plurality of wire strands.

  • Publication number: 20130118593
Abstract: A hydraulic system for a hybrid module which is located between an engine and a transmission includes a parallel arrangement of a mechanical pump and an electric pump. Each pump is constructed and arranged to deliver oil from a sump to other portions of the hydraulic system depending on the operational mode. A load on the electric pump corresponds to a current draw on the electric pump motor. This current draw is used to indicate when there is a low oil level in the sump.

  • Publication number: 20120247314
Abstract: A ballistic baffle includes an abrasion and impact layer for deflecting bullets and one or more layers of energy dissipating material. The abrasion and impact layer takes the impact of a projectile while the energy dissipation material disperses the energy thereof to reduce or eliminate the risk of the bullet penetrating the abrasion and impact material. The composite baffle enables the use of baffles that are lighter weight, less expensive and/or have improved performance characteristics over conventional single layer baffles.
