Patent number: 6467296Abstract: An air conditioning apparatus for a vehicle that includes a multi-stage compressor, an internal heat exchanger, an external heat exchanger, a heat exchanger switching circuit, a cooling expansion passage and a heating expansion passage. The compressor has at least two cylinder bores, one bore being smaller than the other. Refrigerant is compressed in two stages. Refrigerant is conducted from the large cylinder bore to the small cylinder bore via an intermediate chamber. The heat exchanger switching circuit connects the intake chamber of the compressor to one of the heat exchangers depending on whether heating or cooling is desired.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2001Date of Patent: October 22, 2002Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyoda Jidoshokki SeisakushoInventors: Toshiro Fujii, Kazuo Murakami, Yoshiyuki Nakane, Tatsuya Koide

Patent number: 6457959Abstract: An improved scroll compressor having a movable scroll that orbits without being inclined. The compressor has a fixed scroll formed in the housing. The movable scroll is accommodated in the housing and mates with the fixed scroll. The movable scroll is driven by a drive shaft via a crank mechanism. A flange is formed at the periphery of the movable scroll and lies perpendicular to the drive shaft. A groove is formed in the housing. The groove is slightly wider than the thickness of the flange. The flange is slidably accommodated in the groove. Support holes extend in the housing. A pin is supported in each support hole. The ends of each pin are received in guide holes through the flange. Since engagement of the flange and the groove prevents the movable scroll from being inclined, the pin is maintained parallel to the guide holes and follows the wall of the guide holes. As a result, uneven wear of the pins and the guide holes is avoided.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2001Date of Patent: October 1, 2002Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyoda Jidoshokki SeisakushoInventors: Yoshiyuki Nakane, Toshiro Fujii, Naoya Yokomachi, Shinya Yamamoto, Kazuo Murakami

Patent number: 6398515Abstract: A compressor including a compressing mechanism accommodated in a housing. The mechanism draws refrigerant from an intake chamber into a compression chamber and discharges the refrigerant from the compression chamber to the discharge chamber. A seal device prevents leakage of refrigerant from the internal space to the atmosphere between the drive shaft and the housing. An isolation chamber, which is separately formed in the housing, accommodates the seal device. A pressure reducing passage reduces the pressure of the isolation chamber to reduce the pressure difference applied to the seal device.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1998Date of Patent: June 4, 2002Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyoda Jidoshokki SeisakushoInventors: Naoya Yokomachi, Toshiro Fujii, Kazuo Murakami, Takayuki Imai

Publication number: 20020037223Abstract: A control valve is used for a variable displacement compressor installed in a refrigerant circuit of a vehicle air conditioner. The control valve has a valve housing. A valve chamber is defined in the valve housing. A valve body is accommodated in the valve chamber. A pressure sensing chamber is defined in the valve housing. A pressure sensing member separates the pressure sensing chamber into a first pressure chamber and a second pressure chamber. The pressure at a first location in the refrigerant circuit is applied to the first pressure chamber. The pressure at a second location in the refrigerant circuit, which is downstream of the first location, is applied to the second pressure chamber. The pressure sensing member moves the valve body in accordance with the pressure difference between the first pressure chamber and the second pressure chamber such that the displacement of the compressor is varied to counter changes of the pressure difference.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2001Publication date: March 28, 2002Inventors: Ken Suitou, Masaki Ota, Kazuya Kimura, Taku Adaniya, Ryo Matsubara, Satoshi Umemura, Izuru Shimizu, Naoya Yokomachi, Toshiro Fujii, Yuji Hashimoto, Masakazu Murase
