  • Patent number: 8029338
Abstract: Iron and steel rolls are ground to production quality requirements with a grinding wheel that requires minimal wheel wear compensation, profile error compensation or taper error compensation during the grinding process. The grinding wheel consists essentially of a superabrasive material selected from the group of natural diamond, synthetic diamond, cubic boron nitride, and mixtures thereof, in a bond system, for a grinding wheel with extended wheel life, and which removes minimum amount of stock off the roll to achieve desired roll geometry.

  • Patent number: 8023942
Abstract: A system and method of mobile communication roaming where a subscriber's home network and a roaming network used by the subscriber do not have a roaming agreement. The roaming network sends a “Send Authentication/Parameters” request to the home network via an intelligent roaming system on or attached to the backbone. The home network sends an authentication response to the “Send Authentication/Parameters” request from the home network to the roaming network via the backbone and intelligent roaming system. The roaming network sends a “Update Location” request from the roaming network to the intelligent roaming system. The visitor locator register (VLR) address in the “Update Location” request is replaced with the VLR address of the intelligent roaming system to create a modified update request. The modified update request is sent from the intelligent roaming system to the home network.

  • Patent number: 8001100
Abstract: A mechanism for locating information about a target entity in disparate multilevel hierarchical knowledge repositories. Upon occurrence of an event associated with a target entity comprising an information technology solution, disparate multilevel hierarchical knowledge repositories are searched for metadata about the target entity. A determination is made from the metadata about the target entity whether the repositories comprise entities related to the target entity. If so, links in the metadata are used to search the repositories to locate the related entities. Upon locating a resolution to the event in the repositories, a link to the resolution is stored in the metadata. The repositories are also searched to determine owners of the target entity and related entities, and these owners are then notified of the event and the resolution to the event.

  • Patent number: 7894787
Abstract: A system for controlling carrier leakage in a communications device includes a first mixer unit operable to receive and convert a first signal into a second signal having a higher frequency than the first signal, and to transmit the second signal, a second mixer unit operable to receive, convert the second signal into an in-phase signal and a quadrature signal each having lower frequency than the second signal, and transmit them, a processor coupled to the first mixer and the second mixer to perform a leakage reduction procedure by receiving and sampling the in-phase signal and the quadrature signal, determining that a result from the sampling is not equal to a predetermined value, initiating a transmission of a direct current offset signal to the first mixer unit, and adjusting a voltage of the direct current offset signal until a next result of the sampling approximately equals the predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 7840072
Abstract: Pattern matching can be achieved by considering only the position numbers of a source pattern and a target pattern within ordered sequences of possible source patterns and target patterns respectively. The position numbers of source patterns containing the target pattern form a number of groups. The number of source patterns within each group and the number of source patterns in the gaps between groups depend on the position of the target pattern within the source pattern, the length of the target pattern and the number of elements in the alphabet set. Each group also has a position number, its position within an ordered sequence of groups. The group position number of an input source pattern is compared to a series derived from the position number of the target pattern, the length of the target pattern and the number of elements in the alphabet set (9). If the group position number is a member of the series (10), then the source pattern contains the target pattern (11).

  • Patent number: 7724670
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining paths for flows within a multi-stage network made up of clusters of processing nodes. The flow paths may be determined without knowledge of whether or not packets of a particular flow will actually traverse specific ones of the clusters within the multi-stage network. In various implementations, the nodes of the multi-stage network may be coupled to one or more physical network switches through respective physical interfaces and a virtual connectivity grid superimposed thereon and configured through the use of a flow routing framework and system management framework to group the nodes into a number of clusters. The nodes of each cluster are configured to perform similar packet processing functions and the clusters are interconnected through virtual networks to which the nodes are communicatively coupled via virtual interfaces overlaid on top of the physical network interfaces.

  • Patent number: 7559060
Abstract: System and method for performing time-bounded execution of a program. A timed program execution process is initiated, and a timeout process is initiated. A timeout condition is configured in the timeout process at a first priority level, and a rollback state determined for the program. Execution of the program is initiated in the timed program execution process at a second priority level below the first priority level. During execution of the program, the timeout process determines if the timeout condition has occurred, and if so, the timeout process restores the execution of the program to the rollback state, and the timed program execution process resumes execution of the program from the rollback state with the timeout condition. The program exits in the timed program execution process in response to the timeout condition, and the timeout event disabled. The timeout process is terminated, and the timed program execution process is terminated.

  • Patent number: 7524465
Abstract: Provided is an exhaust article (catalyst) coated on a single substrate, such as a monolithic honeycomb having a plurality of channels along the axial length of the catalyst. Different washcoat compositions are deposited along the length the channel walls of the substrate beginning from either the inlet or outlet axial end of the substrate to form inlet and outlet catalyst layers, respectively. In the coating process, the channel walls are coated with catalyst washcoat compositions to lengths that are less than the substrates' axial length. The architecture of the resulting catalyst layers defines a plurality of zones along the length of the substrate. The properties of each zone of the catalyst can be optimized to address specific catalyst functions by manipulation of both the coating lengths and the catalyst washcoat compositions.
