  • Patent number: 7070199
Abstract: An inflatable restraint module comprises an inflatable restraint canister including an inflatable restraint, an instrument panel, and a mechanism for interlocking the instrument panel to the inflatable restrain. The mechanism includes an attachment portion attached to a chute of the inflatable restraint module, a shaft portion extending from the attachment portion, and an engagement flange extending from the shaft portion. Upon upward displacement of the chute as a result of deployment of the inflatable restraint, the mechanism concurrently shifts with the chute, causing the engagement flange to shift from a free-floating, at-rest position to an engagement position with a structural member for controlling the relative movement between the chute and the instrument panel.

  • Patent number: 6942240
Abstract: An inflatable restraint module comprises an inflatable restraint canister including an inflatable restraint, an instrument panel including an inflatable restraint door, and a structural reinforcement member that maintains proper deployment of the inflatable restraint. The structural reinforcement member is attached to an inflatable restraint chute that extends from the instrument panel at a first location and is attached to the structural member and the instrument panel at a second location. Upon deployment of an inflatable restraint, the structural reinforcement member goes into tension, thereby causing the structural reinforcement member to relieve stresses imparted to the instrument panel. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.

  • Patent number: 6859442
Abstract: To efficiently transmit frame relay packets between terrestrial frame relay networks (10, 12) over a satellite/wireless network (14), the packets are processed by frame relay processors (16, 18) at both ends of the satellite/wireless network (14). Variable length frame relay packets are segmented into smaller packets called spackets. The system utilizes priority queueing and a scheduler (24) transmits the spackets over the satellite/wireless link. To enhance the quality of the satellite/wireless link, each frame contains a variable number of Reed-Solomon (RS) check bytes used for error correction. Further, several frames are interleaved before transmission over the satellite/wireless link to spread the effect of burst errors over several frames. Additionally, a header compression technique saves bandwidth by compressing a Virtual Circuit (VC) identifier of the frame relay packet into a smaller value and maps the VCs to a value as specified by the size of the compressed VC field.

  • Publication number: 20040255296
Abstract: System and method for performing time-bounded execution of a program. A timed program execution process is initiated, and a timeout process is initiated. A timeout condition is configured in the timeout process at a first priority level, and a rollback state determined for the program. Execution of the program is initiated in the timed program execution process at a second priority level below the first priority level. During execution of the program, the timeout process determines if the timeout condition has occurred, and if so, the timeout process restores the execution of the program to the rollback state, and the timed program execution process resumes execution of the program from the rollback state with the timeout condition. The program exits in the timed program execution process in response to the timeout condition, and the timeout event disabled. The timeout process is terminated, and the timed program execution process is terminated.

  • Publication number: 20040001782
Abstract: Provided are coated, multi-zoned catalyst substrates that trap and combust hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxides pollutants in a single monolith substrate. In some embodiments, the multi-zoned catalysts contain both radial and axial zones. The zones can be formed by deposition of segregated coating compositions (or washcoats) containing platinum group metals and pollutant adsorbent materials to form layers along the length and radius of the honeycomb substrate. The invention also relates to exhaust gas treating systems that incorporate the multi-zoned catalysts.

  • Publication number: 20040001781
Abstract: Provided is an exhaust article (catalyst) coated on a single substrate, such as a monolithic honeycomb having a plurality of channels along the axial length of the catalyst. Different washcoat compositions are deposited along the length the channel walls of the substrate beginning from either the inlet or outlet axial end of the substrate to form inlet and outlet catalyst layers, respectively. In the coating process, the channel walls are coated with catalyst washcoat compositions to lengths that are less than the substrates' axial length. The architecture of the resulting catalyst layers defines a plurality of zones along the length of the substrate. The properties of each zone of the catalyst can be optimized to address specific catalyst functions by manipulation of both the coating lengths and the catalyst washcoat compositions.

  • Publication number: 20030204568
Abstract: The invention discloses a system and method for access and response to Internet emails, from a wireless device. The system extracts the emails from multiple Internet email accounts and forwards them, on the basis of pre-defined filter settings of the user, to the user's wireless device. The filter settings comprise filter criteria for identifying whether a new mail is to be forwarded to the wireless device or not, and content selection criteria for identifying parts of the new email to be sent to the wireless device. The system also enables the user to reply to the emails in a transparent manner whereby the replied message from the wireless device appears to have originated from the email address. The system also enables the user to dynamically change the filter settings using multi-modal inputs from his/her wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20030198388
Abstract: System and method for determining the presence of an object of interest in a target data set. Portions of a target data set may be located that match an object of interest, e.g., in a template data set, with respect to various information, e.g., edge or boundary information. The invention includes improved methods for mapping point sets or curves to new point sets or curves for curve matching. The method determines the presence of an object of interest in a target data set despite of or using various types of topological transformations of the object of interest in the target data set. One or more mapping operators are determined based on template curves and/or example target curves. Pattern matching is performed on one or more target data sets using the mapping operator(s) to generate pattern matching results, and the pattern matching results output.

  • Publication number: 20030194144
Abstract: System and method for re-sampling discrete curves, thereby efficiently characterizing point sets or curves in a space. The method may also provide improved means for mapping point sets or curves to new point sets or curves for curve matching. A weight vector or function is determined based on a plurality of discrete curves, e.g., from one or more template data sets or images. The weight function enhances differences between weighted discrete curves. A set of orthonormal polynomials is determined based on the computed weight function, where the set of orthonormal polynomials comprises a set of orthogonal eigenfunctions of a Sturm-Liouville differential equation. Values for a plurality of zeros for one of the set of orthonormal polynomials is determined that comprise resampling points for the plurality of discrete curves. Each of the plurality of discrete curves is resampled based on the determined values of the plurality of zeros.
