  • Patent number: 7398183
Abstract: A medication management system (MMS) includes a medication management unit (MMU) associated with a medical device. The MMU downloads a medication order to the medical device only if information from a first input matches information from a second input. The medical device receives delivery information only from the MMU. The medication order is performed only after delivery data validation. The MMU also determines drug-drug incompatibility. The MMU can modulate (start, stop, and dynamically adjust) medication order performance. The medical device wirelessly receives a patient ID to automatically associate with the patient. During delivery, the medical device caches an updated drug library to replace an existing one. The medical device displays a patient picture for validation. The MMU evaluates the performance of medical devices and caregivers based medical device feedback. The MMU adjusts the output of medical device information conveyed to a caregiver.

  • Patent number: 7376832
Abstract: A technique for establishing security in a publish/subscribe data processing broker network is presented. The technique includes providing a security extension module from a publisher to a broker of the network, wherein the security extension module is for a topic asset of the publisher. The broker employs the security extension module, responsive to receipt of a request from a subscriber for the topic asset, to authenticate the request at the broker before pushing the topic asset of the publisher to the subscriber. In addition to authenticating the request, the security mode extension can be employed to authorize the request, and to automatically forward messages to the publisher providing information on when topic asset access by a subscriber begins and ends.

  • Publication number: 20070151949
Abstract: Methods of semiconductor processing and apparatuses are disclosed. An organic solvent is applied over a surface of a material layer on a substrate in which the material layer includes a short-chain structure. A fluorine-containing solution is applied over the surface of the material layer to substantially remove the material layer from the substrate. The apparatus comprises the wafer holder coupled to the organic solvent source and the fluorine solution source. The wafer holder accommodates at least one wafer. The organic solvent source supplies an organic solvent with a temperature from about 18° C. to about 40° C., a concentration from about 90 w. % to about 100 w. % and is applied over the substrate about 100 seconds or more. The fluorine solution source containing fluorine solution supplies the fluorine-containing solution with a temperature from about 18° C. to about 70° C. and a concentration from about 1 w. % to about 49 w. %.

  • Patent number: 7224281
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a system to monitor a patient. In some aspects, a signal representing a value of a physiological parameter is received from a monitoring device. The received value is a value that caused the monitoring device to trigger an alarm associated with the psychological parameter. A notification is determined based on the received signal and on a second signal that represents a value of a second physiological parameter. The notification is then presented to an operator.

  • Patent number: 7197491
Abstract: An architecture and implementation of a dynamic RMI server configuration hierarchy to support federated search and update across heterogeneous datastores. The RMI server configuration hierarchy supports searching for data in one or more heterogeneous data sources within a computer system. A request for data is received at a federated data source. Then, a server is selected to process the request based on a load of the server and based on whether the server can satisfy the request for data.

  • Patent number: 7120213
Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving a bit stream. On the transmission side, coded bits (Y.sub.t) and an interleaved version of the coded bits (X.sub.t) are separately modulated and transmitted. On the reception side, a priori output probabilities produced by a probability generator (34) are combined (112) and then input to a SISO decoder (111). Combined a posteriori output probabilities (115) produced by the SISO decoder are split (113) and then fed back to the probability generator.

  • Patent number: 7113939
Abstract: An architecture to enable search gateways as part of a federated search supports searching for data in one or more heterogeneous data sources. The one or more heterogeneous data sources are within a computer system. Initially, a request for data is received at a federated data source. From the federated data source, data is retrieved from one or more of one or more terminal data repositories or one or more search gateway data sources.

  • Patent number: 7107430
Abstract: Short-quasi-unique-identifiers (SQUIDs) are generated and assigned to the data objects stored in memory. Pointers to a particular data object contain the data object's assigned SQUID. If a data object is moved to a second allocated memory segment, a new pointer to the second allocated memory segment is placed at the original memory segment, so that any pointers to the original memory segment now point to the new pointer. The distribution of SQUIDs is uniform. SQUIDs can be generated by counting, generated randomly, generating through some hashing mechanism, or other means. In comparing two different pointers, it is determined that the two pointers do not reference the same data object if the SQUIDs are different. On the other hand, if the SQUIDs are identical and the address fields of the two pointers are identical, then the two pointers reference the same data object.

  • Patent number: 7099414
Abstract: In a wireless communication receiver (31) of a wireless communication system that utilizes transmit diversity and turbo coding, symbol decisions are based at least in part on a posteriori probabilities (47, 48) produced by SISO decoders (35, 36). These probabilities are produced iteratively in alternating fashion to support the symbol decision process. The SISO decoder associated with the weakest (92) wireless communication channel goes first (93) in the iterative process.

  • Patent number: 6976211
Abstract: A unique method, system, and computer-program product for providing selective access to (and selective exclusion from) certain nodes of a DOM tree is disclosed. Each DOM node is provided with a naming mechanism; in a preferred embodiment each node is assigned a permanent name using an XML attribute NAME to identify each node, and each node is also assigned a “context state value” using an XML attribute “CONTEXT”. Changes to the operating context of the DOM tree affect the accessibility of each node in the tree. By correlating the “CONTEXT” attribute of a child node (or nodes) to the “CONTEXT” attribute of a parent node, the correlated child node is accessible by the parent.

  • Patent number: 6826672
Abstract: A pointer representation includes a permission field to define capabilities of the system in processing the data to which an address in the pointer of representation points. Bounds of the memory segment to which the capabilities apply are defined by a block field, which defines a block size, and a length field, which defines a number of blocks of that size within the segment of memory. To permit computation of the full range of addresses to which the capability applies, a finger field is included to denote the block of the segment of memory to which the address points. An increment-only bit may cause the system to preclude any negative offsets from the address in the pointer representation. Subsegments within a segment may be further defined by additional block, length and finger fields.
