  • Patent number: 8107764
Abstract: In order to accurately remove an unnecessary periodic noise component from an image, a reconstruction unit generates a reconstructed image without a periodic noise component by fitting to a face region detected in an image by a face detection unit a mathematical model generated according a method of AAM using a plurality of sample images representing human faces without a periodic noise component. The periodic noise component is extracted by a difference between the face region and the reconstructed image, and a frequency of the noise component is determined. The noise component of the determined frequency is then removed from the image.

  • Patent number: 8078010
Abstract: To acquire a high-resolution frame from a plurality of frames sampled from a video image, it is necessary to obtain a high-resolution frame with reduced picture quality degradation regardless of motion of a subject included in the frame. Because of this, between a plurality of contiguous frames FrN and FrN+1, there is estimated a correspondent relationship. Based on the correspondent relationship, the frames FrN+1 and FrN are interposed to obtain first and second interpolated frames FrH1 and FrH2. Based on the correspondent relationship, the coordinates of the frame FrN+1 are transformed, and from a correlation value with the frame FrN, there is obtained a weighting coefficient ?(x°, y°) that makes the weight of the first interpolated frame FrH1 greater as a correlation becomes greater. With the weighting coefficient, the first and second interpolated frames are weighted and added to acquire a synthesized frame FrG.

  • Patent number: 8068645
Abstract: In order to cause a structure such as a human face in an image to become unidentifiable while causing the image to have a natural finish, a parameter acquisition unit obtains weighting parameters representing a characteristic of an individual in a face region in the image by fitting to the face region detected by a face detection unit a mathematical model generated by a method of AAM using a plurality of sample images representing human faces. A reconstruction unit changes the weighting parameters to become smaller, and reconstructs the face region by using the parameters having been changed.

  • Publication number: 20110254981
Abstract: Processing for judging whether a face is included in a frame is performed, in a predetermined interval, on each of frames included in a moving image of a subject, displayed on a monitor, until the judgment becomes positive. If it is judged that a face is included in a frame, the facial position is detected in the frame, and stored. Then, judgment is made as to whether a face is included in the next frame after predetermined time. If the judgment is positive, the facial position is detected. The previously stored facial position is replaced by the newly detected facial position, and the newly detected facial position is stored. These processes are repeated until photographing operation is performed by operating a release unit.

  • Patent number: 7848588
Abstract: Without use of special hardware such as an angular rate sensor, a direction of blur can be judged with high accuracy. A parameter acquisition unit obtains weighting parameters for principal components representing directions of blur in a predetermined structure in an image by fitting to the structure a mathematical model generated by a method of Active Appearance Models (AAM) using a plurality of sample images representing the structure in different conditions of blur. A blur direction judgment unit judges the direction of blur based on the weighting parameters, and a blur width acquisition unit finds a width of blur based on an edge component found by an edge detection unit in the direction perpendicular to the direction of blur. A blur correction unit corrects the blur in the image based on the direction and the width of blur.

  • Patent number: 7809173
Abstract: When detecting a face included in an input image by use of at least two inclinations of the face to be detected, a first detection process is performed if the inclination of the face to be detected corresponds to a first inclination where a relatively high face detection probability is expected, and a second detection process having a relatively low face detection probability and a relatively short processing time compared with the first detection process is performed if the inclination of the face to be detected is other than the first inclination. When an input image is scanned to enable the change in face detection processes according to the position of the face to be detected, a different detection process is used according to the face detection probability of the position of the face to be detected.
