  • Patent number: 9189346
Abstract: According to the present invention, it is possible to construct a backup configuration of a particular application data, without influencing data of another application. A management computer is coupled to a host computer on which an application operates, and to a storage apparatus that includes a plurality of volume groups each having one or more logical volumes. At least one of the logical volumes is allocated to the application. The management computer includes a volume group overlapping use determination part and a backup policy determination part. When the backup of the volume group to which one logical volume belongs is configured, the volume group overlapping use determination part determines whether there is another application that uses the volume group. The backup policy determination part determines whether there is set, for another volume group, backup policy information same as that set for the application.

  • Patent number: 9170749
Abstract: To provide a storage management technique for creating and managing, with single operation by a user, a large quantity of writable snapshots, which satisfy a requirement desired by the user, while controlling a use form of a storage apparatus not to exceed limits of the performance and the capacity of the storage apparatus. Therefore, a management computer manages configuration information and performance information of plural storage apparatuses and an operation state of a writable snapshot. When a writable snapshot is created, the management computer controls, concerning an original snapshot, a use form of the storage apparatuses not to exceed a disk performance limit and a controller performance limit and a capacity limit of a storage on the basis of the number of writable snapshots to be created and a performance requirement (IOPS) and a capacity requirement of the writable snapshot.

  • Publication number: 20150301743
Abstract: A computer is coupled to a storage apparatus having a hierarchical pool with multiple storage tiers that are multiple page groups having different IO performance. Page data is migrated between storage tiers in accordance with a migration request. The computer has a storage device that stores performance requirement management information denoting a performance requirement of a task, which is an execution unit of a prescribed process, and IO performance information enabling identification of a difference in IO performance between the multiple storage tiers. A control device calculates an amount of change predicted in the task execution performance on supposition that one or more data objects for use in the task are to be migrated to a page in another storage tier, and identifies, based on the predicted amount of change, one or more data objects capable of being migrated to a page in another storage tier.

  • Patent number: 9069640
Abstract: In a computer system composed of a computer in which a plurality of VMs (Virtual Machines) are operated and a storage system, when a patch of an OS in the VM is applied, update data accompanying the application of the patch is stored in each VM image, causing increase of load of the storage system accompanying the concentration of read requests and the elongation of the patch applying process time. Therefore, the present invention provides a high-speed patch applying method to the VMs. When a patch applying request from a user using the VM is received and a patch is applied to the first VM, the patch is applied after creating a replication of the original GI (Golden Image) by which a new GI is created, and the new GI is used when the patch is applied to the second and subsequent VMs. During a patch applying process of the VM, a VM image is created from a new GI, and a path information related to the VM image is changed to thereby execute the patch applying process.

  • Publication number: 20140253014
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a charging control device, a solar power generation system and a charging control method which allow more efficient charging. The charging control device includes: a charging converter which takes electric power out of a solar panel and converts the electric power to a voltage required for charging a storage battery; and a controlling CPU which adjusts an output voltage that is outputted from the charging converter. The charging converter takes electric power out of the solar panel at two operation points where the electric power can be taken out of the solar panel with a certain output voltage, and charges the storage battery. The controlling CPU adjusts the output voltage in accordance with a voltage difference between input voltages respectively corresponding to the two operation points. The present technique is applicable, for example, to the charging control device of the solar power generation system.
